Genesee Bock Beer Special Edition, from Genesee!
Our take on the 16th century German legend has turned out to be a legend in its own right. For every spring since 1951, our brewery has carefully crafted and lagered Genesee Bock Beer. The result is an exceptionally hearty, full-flavored beer with a slight malty finish—and a perfect way to celebrate the snow melt.

Can from Jungle Jim’s. Poured clear brown color with a large fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth sticky texture. Medium balanced sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of average duration.

Can (12oz). Do NOT look at this can hung over. Just don’t. Pours a very attractive bright refractive burnt copper with a decent sized fizzy off-white foamy head - even some nice Queen Anne’s lacing left behind - 4/5 for a Genny - go figure! There some roast in the aroma, grain and even some floral bitterness, but it’s ... somehow not really "there" - a bit weedy, if you follow me. The taste is light and simple - sweet caramel papery malt, some vague bitterness I can’t really attribute to anything specific, and weird aftertaste that won’t go away, like pesticide residue or something. Thin, flat and slick/sticky mouthfeel, a little alcohol burn in the tail, moderately harsh aftertaste. Kind of a roasty malt likkah, perhaps.

Sampled from 12-oz can and shared by Guerde. Pours a clear copper amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly disappears clean. Aroma of caramel malt, some light corn, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, some carbonation with flavors of caramel malt, floral hops and a touch of pear. Finish is semi-sweet and then a lingering corn sweetness.

Ugh... thanks Guerde. Copper color with no head. Dry floral aroma. Lightly malty flavor and a bit of caramel towards the finish.

12 ounce can - $2.75 at Taco Mac in Woodstock, Georgia. Appearance: From the retro-type can it pours a clear, amber-brown body with a finger of beige-hued suds. Smell: Gently sweetish on the nose, with basic, simple notes of toast, light caramel, and light brown sugar. Taste: A taste of toast, a soothing sugared sweetness and a tiny, tiny pinch of cocoa. Light indistinct fruitiness. Mild, lightly earthy hops with a low, subdued bitterness to it, so the sweetness remains until the crisp finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. Overall: Milder and gentler than most, but gains a boosted drinkability from the lower level of alcohol and the crisper-than-most level of carbonation. And it’s cheap. If I’m paying only $2.75 at a restaurant, a six’er of the stuff in stores should be pretty reasonable.

Light lager aroma. Light brown color. Some malt, drinkable enough as a session beer, not very bocky.
