3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 HoppityHop (151) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 9, 2008
Aroma is malty meets alcoholic, and pours like ginger ale with a small white, quickly diminishing head. The lacing lasts the entire way down and is inviting by any standard, macro or micro. Flavor is nice.......maybe like a fuller bodied and more flavorful version of Genny’s-own cream ale? There’s a slight presence of caramel and tastes enough like a bock to please my palate. Glad to finally get my hands on this one. Fantastic macrobrew........and I love the vintage can graphics!
3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 uvajed (150) - Ravenna, Ohio, USA - MAR 1, 2010
Pours a clear reddish-brown out of the can, with a big, light tan head. Foam dissipates quickly, leaving a light cover on top and a bit of lacing on the glass. Aroma of a little malt, maybe hints of spice and molasses, but not strong by any means. Very smooth, slightly sweet taste, too light on the hops for me. More carbonated than a bock should be, but not crazy fizzy like a Bud.
Overall, my new favorite cheap beer! Beats the hell out of Pabst, Genny Cream, Blatz (all of which I am okay with), even Budweiser (which I hate, but many people love) and similar lagers. I like this as much as Yuengling Lager, which is one of my favorites. I can buy this in my town (unlike Yuengling, for some stupid reason), though it is only a seasonal, apparently. I am definitely stocking up while I can. At $6.99 for 12 cans, this simply can not be beat, or even threatened. My god, why don’t they sell this all year!?!? Genesee’s brewery is severely under rated, and has been expanding a bit as of late, and I hope they continue to do so. Not phenomenal, but the best beer I’ve found locally for under $10/12. Try it if you can, despite the crazy can and 12-pack design.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 yackery (126) - California, USA - APR 30, 2011
Pours a persistant, sandy head over a clear, dark, metallic body. Lacing is absolute but quite fast. It looks like hot, pekoe tea.
Aroma is citrus and floral soap with malty, toasty cereal. Surprisingly forward and complex for the price.
Taste is sour and bitter.
Palate is medium body and a little rough and the moderately bitter finish is long.
Good lager for the price (less than $9 for 12x12oz.).
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 WhiteAlePower (91) - Long Island, New York, USA - MAR 7, 2008
Can. My first thoughts when I see this brand are "stale nearly green putrescence!". In other words, I am by no means a fan of "Genny". However, this brew proves to have some redeeming values, most certainly not in the outdated (1970’s) can art! Anyways, the brew poured a slight reddish brown with a very nice thick head, which diminished quickly. Aromas are that of sweet malts and some notes of caramel. Very light bodied and in flavour as well. But it is quite drinkable. This is by no means a typical bock, I think they sort of missed their target, but made a decent brew at that! Enjoy it if you can find it.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 missing (72) - Wichita, Kansas, USA - APR 25, 2007
Got as a gift from a friend. I honestly wasn’t expecting much (after having tried their other beers). To be honest, it wasn’t bad. I think it is a little light (both in color and body) for style but it was fairly smooth. No realy bitterness. All in all, not to bad.
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 RyanK (69) - Rhode Island, USA - FEB 7, 2012
Pours a deep amber with a large off white foam head that is very slow to dissipate. Smells of sweetness, yeast, and that macro brew smell like bud. Gentle, a little sweet not tasting much for hops just a regular brew type flavor. Despite being a bock, i’d put this as somewhere between a regular bud and sam adams lager, with almost no after taste, just a tad bitter.

Not a conventional bock in my opinion. But this was actually not all that bad.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 LowBrau (45) - Tonawanda, New York, USA - MAR 6, 2012
Clear, dark brown, with a generous light tan head that dissipates gradually. Easy to drink, but not watery. Not as rich and heavy as many bocks. Definitely a good beer compared to others in its price range.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 shawn14505 (39) - Rochester, New York, USA - MAR 8, 2008
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2009 Can. Reddish-amber. Im pounding the "limited edition" Gennese Bock Beer, available for $6.25/12 pack at Beers of the World in Winton Plaza, Rochester, NY, purchased on 3/7/08. Extremely affordable for a beer of this type. Not exactly a true Bock Beer, but nonetheless a good session beer, miles ahead of any BMC crap. If you REALLY want to try this beer but cant seem to find it, PM ME.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CROchamp (10) - USA - MAY 17, 2008
Not a fancy discovery, but rather a nice allround beer. The foam is not its strongest point (tends to overflow, and then quickly vanish), but other parameters are rather decent. I purchased it at the local store, revolted as my favorite was sold-out, and found it a decent substitute. A true bargain -especially considering the price.
