12 ounce bottle. Pours a clear gold with large four inch head that slowly collapses. Lots of carbonation. Taste is of malt, grain, honey and corn. Similar aroma. Has a decent, lighter body. Easy to drink and refreshing.

Yellow with a small white head. Smells funky. Not in a good way. Tastes like slightly sweet water. This is very bad.

Can. Pours a crystal clear gold with a thin to medium sized white head. Sweet corn and grain on the nose. Medium bodied, sweet and full of corn and grain. Easy drinking, but not a ton going on. Shouldn’t be a lot going on though, since this seems like a decent enough lawn mower beer. Finishes up with some more grain and corn flavors. Meh. At least it wasn’t the worst beer I’ve had tonight.

12oz can 4/11/13 (Binny’s Plainfield Retro Brand Mixed Six)-40° in Footed Pilsner-Pours golden with a small white head. Aroma of hay, grains, and sweetness. Taste of the same with a bit of grass and sweetness. This light bodied brew is not bad. It beats most of the other cheap brews.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Alextricity (177) - Chesterfield Twp., Michigan, USA - MAR 20, 2013
With 2491 etched on the bottom, I assume that it means this beer was made in Autumn of 2011... so this beer is pretty much ancient. I’ll try to keep that in mind while typing this up. I had this straight from the can, so I’ll skip the whole appearance bit.
Smell: Like I’d expect a cream ale to smell ... a vanilla sort of sweetness, with corn.
Taste/feel: Considering this beer is so old, it’s actually not terrible. I get a taste of alcohol on the start with some sweetness and malt, and then it’s done. This is about as inoffensive as a beer can get. I don’t get many (any?) hops in the taste at all, but it’s actually a pretty decent adjunct. As for the feel... meh. I’ll have to guess it’s the age that’s made this one pretty odd. Decent carbonation in the middle, but falls flat on the finish, and leaves a not-too pleasant aftertaste that has Sweet & Low sweetness.
All things considered (the fact that it’s an adjunct and that the beer is well over a year old, if I’m reading the dating correctly), Genesee Cream Ale is a very reasonably priced, decent tasting beer. The after taste irks me a little bit, but it’s still something I’d much rather drink over a Budweiser, or even Coors... even if it’s 500+ days old like this can is.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2013 Smooth and pale with barley and grassy flavor. Not much bitterness and a light-medium body. The bottle is pretty sweet. For how cheap this beer is the taste is decent. Definitely lacks some bit of flavor but it’s a smooth and drinkable but gets too skunky for me after a couple.

Picked up to try a cream ale. Poured a clear light gold color. Very small head. Aroma of malt and barley. This seems to be like a typical macro pale lager, but has some flavor. It is also less expensive. I picked up a big can for around $1. It is good for what they are trying to do. But not in my favorite category.

This beer subtly smells like a lager (that yeasty smell of the huge American breweries), but hints of vanilla and malt; furthermore, when poured into a pilsner glass, you can see how bubbly and yellow this beer is, and the prominent white head adds to the aesthetic. The taste is mildly sour yet slightly sweet, but the light body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and abrupt finish combine interestingly.
