2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12 ounce can thanks to Dennis. Pours a bright copper color with a medium white head. A sweet grainy nose. Not very good. Earthy, slick and dirty palate, grains, smoother sweet barley. Hmmm. Not terrible. Iced to 5.5? I want the 55% version......maybe. OK, Iíll rate it.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
Big fucken can @ home, courtesy of BlackIPA. Bro always send me wales, Jesus. Pours a clear, golden orange appearance with a cream colored head. Lemon, corn candy, pure natural ingredient aroma. Pretty sweet, candy, lightly fruity, spritzy flavor. Not horrible. More flavor than Bud Light and about equally enjoyable.

1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 3/20
3/16/2011: Genesee Ice Beer... Aroma: Flaked cereal grains and sweet corn meal. Appearance: Straw color; uber-transparent and clean; fizzy white head. Flavor: Sweet (but not too sweet) wet grains/corn, straw and hay; a slight bit metallic with the typical skunky edge to it; tolerable, but only because of the sweetness... Palate: Medium-light to medium body with a good amount of heft to the feel; smooth, creamy texture. Overall: Blah... Tick!
One pint can (5.5% Alc/Vol.) from Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Rating #128 for

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
I poured a 24oz can into a 1 liter boot stein. It was canned on April 16, 2013 and cost $1.16 ($0.05 per ounce).
Appearance: Clear, gold/amber hue. Highly effervescent. Forms a large, white, soapy head which retains for a while but eventually dissipates completely.
Smell: Generic economy lager smell of grain. Iíve smelled worse.
Taste: Beers like Genesee Ice make me wonder what the point of their existence is. If you want to get drunk cheap, there are stronger beers for the same price. And despite the ludicrous marketing hyperbole, there really is nothing "premium" or "robust" about the flavor here. Itís adjunct macro lager as cheap as they come with the taste to match.
The palette starts off surprisingly weak and watery. Nothing but clichť fizzy yellow lager flavor, but weaker than most. Next to no bitterness anywhere in the taste here, which is fine, though Iím not sure this qualifies as a malt liquor proper. I actually do detect a subtle caramel sweetness on the finish, but itís quickly obscured by a foul taste of cheap, dry graininess. Maybe Iíve built up a tolerance to these types of beers, because itís not as offensive as other beers of the ilk have been. Still, thereís nothing to genuinely like about the taste. Itís bland, itís cheap, itís off-putting, yet there are worse incarnations out there.
Drinkability: I often find "gold sodas" like this tend to be quite bubbly at first, but go flat quickly. But in the case of Genesee Ice, it actually stayed well-carbonated throughout. The liquid itself is noticeably thin and has a slightly slick texture. Thereís a starchy, cracker-like aftertaste coupled with that of boiled corn. Even when drank ice cold on a hot summerís night itís not really refreshing. At 5.5% ABV itís too weak to be used as a get-drunk-quick vehicle, and too strong to be a casual, sessionable lager.
