Draft @ Ohso. Reddish brown with a really creamy tan head. Big aroma of coffee with lots of caramel and chocolate. Flavor follows with roasted coffee and sweet chocolate and caramel malt. Medium body with a slightly thin mouth feel. Ok beer, kind of thin but all else is nice.

Nice dark brown pour with a creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, espresso, a light nutty note and a hint of lactose. Creamy and a bit sweet with a roast backbone, coffee and cocoa. Good stuff.

Draft at brewery. Black, tiny tan head. Nose is creamy coffee. I liked this coffee forward, smooth, creamy stout.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 BillKismet (3000) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Cthonic black color with a sasparilla underpinning. The nose is overwhelmed by roasted coffee grains. The body, however, is far too tannic and vegetal. Perhaps from hot coffee added to the wort or secondary, rather than cold-brewed. In any case, the upshot is an astringent and subpar coffee beer.

(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, light dirty socks, chocolate, and wet plywood. Flavor of coffee, roasted hatch chilies, caramel, and chocolate.

I’m not rating Gentle Ben’s Mocha Java Stout; I’m rating Barrio Mocha Java Stout (on tap at Barrio). Just want to make that clear.
Anyways, the Mocha Java Stout was the real all-star from my night out with Carin. Barrio doesn’t pull any punches here: this is just a dark, roasty, sweet, coffee-flavored stout. Sure, it’s not very inventive, but this brew is just too tasty to get anything below a 4 rating.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 LilBeerDoctor (2816) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 9, 2012
On tap at Barrio Brewing. Pours black with a dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt with underlying roasted coffee. Flavor is not in your face java, but the java is there, along with sweet and roasted malts. Good coffee beer!

6.8% on tap at barrio 4/5/10.
dark brown near black with orange at the edges. tan head.
it smells of coffee grounds, roast with slight ashiness, vanilla, caramel and chocolate.
the flavor is the same... a little ash and tartness on the finish with coffee lingering in the aftertaste.
medium bodied, crisp and terribly easy drinking. 7/4/7/4/15/3.7

Growler acquired in trade with cbkschubert as part of the Growler Swap v 1.0 (thanks Craig!). Poured a dark, dark brown color with an average to larger sized tan head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, some coffee and a little earthy. Tastes of chocolate, coffee (more in the taste vs. the aromas), ligher roast, and some caramel. Well done!
