Dark brown pour with small beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and coffee. Taste of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, hint of caramel and a roasty dry cocoa finish. Full bodied, medium carbonation, creamy mouthfeel, good stout!

Growler from Barrio. Pours a dark brown with medium tan head. Aromas of coffee, roast, malt, and some chocolate. Flavors of some mild bitterness and sweetness. Not a bad beer, but I thought it was a little flat and missing something. I do, however, look forward to trying more from them.

Growler pours with a dark body that supports a mocha colored head of foam. The aroma offers up notes of dark roasted coffee, finely ground coffee grains and a bit of a spicy pumpkin note. The taste has a mild degree of spices and pumpkin that quickly move into dark roasted malts and dark roasted coffee. This is coming together nicely. Spicy pumpkin though? Cool brew.

Draft. Aroma is dry and coffee. Appearance is black with a tan head. Taste is coffee than rolls into black malt. Palate is dry and dark. Overall, a decent stout. Too thin, but good flavor. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draft @ Ohso. Reddish brown with a really creamy tan head. Big aroma of coffee with lots of caramel and chocolate. Flavor follows with roasted coffee and sweet chocolate and caramel malt. Medium body with a slightly thin mouth feel. Ok beer, kind of thin but all else is nice.

Nice dark brown pour with a creamy brown head. Aroma of chocolate, espresso, a light nutty note and a hint of lactose. Creamy and a bit sweet with a roast backbone, coffee and cocoa. Good stuff.

Draft at brewery. Black, tiny tan head. Nose is creamy coffee. I liked this coffee forward, smooth, creamy stout.

BillKismet (3321) - Seattle, Washington, USA - MAR 10, 2012
Cthonic black color with a sasparilla underpinning. The nose is overwhelmed by roasted coffee grains. The body, however, is far too tannic and vegetal. Perhaps from hot coffee added to the wort or secondary, rather than cold-brewed. In any case, the upshot is an astringent and subpar coffee beer.

(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with a medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, light dirty socks, chocolate, and wet plywood. Flavor of coffee, roasted hatch chilies, caramel, and chocolate.

Iím not rating Gentle Benís Mocha Java Stout; Iím rating Barrio Mocha Java Stout (on tap at Barrio). Just want to make that clear. Anyways, the Mocha Java Stout was the real all-star from my night out with Carin. Barrio doesnít pull any punches here: this is just a dark, roasty, sweet, coffee-flavored stout. Sure, itís not very inventive, but this brew is just too tasty to get anything below a 4 rating.
