on tap at barrio with the trains going by. i had to get something!!!

pours a very dark garnet brown with an off white head and lots of lacing trails. aroma of raisins, molasses, chocolate, lots of florals/esters, malt and coffee (when it warms). the flavor is awfully similar with a touch of earthy hoppy dryness and pleasant bitterness on the finish which keep in balanced quite well. it has a nutty coffee-like aftertaste... mmm. lots of alcohol vapors noticed as it warms ( i do have four beers in front of me. damn trains!). medium bodied but rather light mouth feel given the alcohol content of this thing...

on tap as part of the sampler pours deep amber with a thin white head. Aroma is all malts, caramel, toffee, doughy. Flavor is toffee and sticky caramel sweet through and through. The alcohol is masked well, but it’s pretty one dimensional.

[Tap] Pours a dark amber color with a red hue. About an inch worth of thick white head and great looking lacing. Sweet malts, alcohol and persistant hop aroma. Lots of grapefruit, mild fruits, heavy sweet rolls and dough in the taste. Strong hop finish gives the initial impression of an IIPA. Lingering boozy finish was all right. They have some weird rule with this beer where you have to wait a specific amount of time before ordering a second beer. Still one of the better beers here.
