wyzzywyz22 (244), Wirral, Merseyside, England May 7, 2008 Cask, Hoylake Lights. Served ridiculously cold, in a ’chill out’ glass....Why oh why ? If I want to ’chill out’ I’ll seek my pleasures elsewhere. Why the brewers revenge ?! Intriguing, perhaps some unspeakably vile ingredient has been injected. Perhaps some bodily fluid ? It certainly tasted like it, from what I could glean. Hazy amber with a lingering white head. Some fruit in the aroma. Initially not bad, with some balanced enough malt and hops, but a really nasty aftertaste, damp wood ?verging on stale, maybe I just had a bad one, but I couldn’t finish. Revenge taken.
Svesse (1499), Hässelby, Sweden Dec 4, 2006 (Cask at Welkin JDW, Liverpool, 25 July) Amber colour with frothy, brief, off-white head. Malty, fruity nose with notes of apricots and mandarin. Rather closed and thin. Malty, fruity taste with mandarin and apricots, slightly acidic (?). Rather boring stuff, actually.
