Cask from Euston Tap. Quite floral, earthy hops dominate but some malt to balance. Pleasant golden ale.

21 Feb 2013: Liverpool John Lennon airport, The Argosy, a Wetherspoons while waiting for a flight to Berlin. Two hand-pulled pints into UK sleeve glasses. Golden body with a creamy head in both colour and texture. The whole thing was a fine blend of flavours: the hops and barleys complimented each other very well and I really enjoyed the two pints. The hops just about took control, but overall it seemed a well balanced beer and easy to drink. Nothing complicated, just a good basic beer. I’ve only had beers from this brewery within Liverpool airport: I always head for The Argosy now to see what is on offer from Wrights.

A Mes rate. Cask at the Market Porter.
Clean gold with a thin white head. Fruity malt with some definite overseas character. A decent amount of grassy hops. Nicely balanced. Good citric notes in the finish. Just a little too slick and juicy. Not bad.

Bottle. Golden and flat. Some hoppiness but fairly bland. The label says that its a premium lager but to my mind it was more like a an average bitter.

Cask handpump at the Everyman Bistro, Liverpool 29-11-08. Pours golden with great clarity and a nice white slim head. I note that there is a dryness to this straight away but then the fruitiness starts to flood through and there are some really nice slightly overipe golden plums bobbing around in the mouth. Some soapy hops, its soft in the mouth, slick but sweet lemon flavours and the dryness returns along with bitter companion at the end, another very good beer. A6 A4 F7 P4 OV15 3.6
