Cask-conditioned at the Black & Gold beer festival, the Gryphon, Bristol 2/9/2012. Near black with a slight tan head. Dark chocolate and black coffee aroma with a touch of berry sweetness. Full bodied mouth feel, with more chocolate and fruit flavours, leading to a soft finish. Good.

Cask at Cloisters. Dark brown with a reddish tinge, thick off-white head. Coffee, raisin nose. Fig and coffee flavours on the palate, some sort of soapy flavour. Bit thin-bodied too, but not bad.

UPDATED: AUG 1, 2012 Cask at Cloisters. Pours a dark brown colour with a reddish tinge and a thin light tan head. Aroma of caramel, coffee and dark malts. Similar flavours with a dry finish. Alcohol is fairly present with a lingering raisin quality.

Cask Stillage at the Metropolitan Cathedral Crypt, Liverpool 18/02/2006 Slightly fruity aroma. Dark a little rich on the palate and fruity with citrus and berry flavours. A hint of bitterness and dryness in a lasting finish.

Cask in the market porter. Alround rating: Sweet black malt, lightly grainy mouthfeel, this big lemon and limke fruity character comes in and your like whats going on. A very interesting and different beer!

Cask in Manchester. Very dark, off-white head. On the sweet side, I get milk chocolate associations. Just a hint of smoke, lacks a proper roasted malt edge. Or an edge of anything, really.

Cask, Lion, Liverpool. Red tinged dark brown with a v thin tan head. Dark chocolate malt aroma with a hint of fruit. Ever so slightly on the thin side and not a huge amount in the finish, but these are minor quibbles, as this is certainly not lacking in appeal.
