3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at the brewery. The bartender told me how they were sued by Magic Hat of the name. Apparently having a "9" on the label is too close to #9. Anyway, the new name is still the same beer. A porter that focuses on the chocolate without completely neglecting the roast. I would drink this regularly if it was local and came with an appropriate price-tag.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap on the Argosy Seattle harbor tour. Colour... Nearly black with a thin tan head. Nose.... Very toasty and roasty with mounds of chocolate! Palate... Lightly effervescent with a massive wave of dark chocolate and roasted nuts followed by more dark chocolate and some burnt sugar. A damn fine porter!

Sample from growler at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 04/05/2012. The beer is a dark brown color with a medium thin light beige head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing. The aroma consists of roasted malt and coffee. Medium body with a roasty character of malt and coffee. Slight hops in the background. The finish is sweet with a short malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sampler Tray @Blue Star, Seattle. Dark brown body. Bitter chocolate aroma. Strong and bitter taste: burnt coffee and roasted almonds. It goes perfect with sweet chocolate cake, but it’s not a beer you drink pints of or enjoy by itself, really... (19.Dec 2011 in the pleasant company of Stefan)
