corkyrory66 (1394) - BELGIUM - DEC 25, 2015

Dubbel poco saporita e decisamente poco profumata. Banale.

300ml bottle. Clear copper color. Medium size, beige head, stays. Bready, metallic, bit papery yeast in aroma. Sourish, grainy, berries, faint caramel in taste. Sourish berries and metallic in aftertaste. Alcohol is hidden. It’s kind of ok brew.

300ml bottle (John Bull, Kuressaare)
Sweet brown-bready aroma, some raisins, fairly classic belgian. Nice brown, and viscous so the tiny bubbles rise very prettily, supporting a nice tight beige head. Very full palate, smooth and sweet, nearly slick. Very bready taste, some appley retronasals. Sweet. A little dirty too. Fairly boring dark dubbel.

Bottle: Reddish-amber coloured, small stable ’n creamy off-white layer; sweetish candy-like and caramelly nose with a cherry-like fruitiness underneath; quite soft, moderate sweet flavour with both a delicate bitterness and a delicate acidity, barely medium bodied; slightly increasing bitterness in the vinous-fruity finish; well the extremely well hidden alcohol deserves an extra point. Not superb, but much better than expected…
