1.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
33cl bottle from Vincenzo’s in that part of KW that isn’t really Kitchener but isn’t really Waterloo either in the Belmont Village. Claims to have expired last month, though it looks fine. Novelty purchase. Pours a nice gold, dead with a tiny white head. Aroma is insanely sweet, grainy, almost like unfermented lager wort (oh wait maybe that’s what it is). Really pungent aroma, can’t quite get over it, smells almost like malta goya. Flavour is surprisingly tame, very dull and watery. Same sweet worty aspects with a semi dry touch in the finish that I can assume is probably from coming into contact with hops at some point, if only briefly. It’s actually tolerable for what it is, not sure I’d like to drink large amounts of it, ever, either all at once or over time. Interesting to try I guess. Doesn’t really compare to the Mecca of N/A’s, Labatt Nordic, which is sometimes refered to simply as ’Man’s Greatest Achievment Ever’.

1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Bottle from Starsky in Mississauga. OK I do have standards even in alcohol free. This is a clear fail. Taste stewed grain and metallic, a bit sulfur, fake-sweet body and wet dog. The aroma is tight, processed and fake like the tastes. Palate and aftertaste is probably the worst feature. I used half the bottle shampooing my hair, and my hair did not thank me.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
The bottle looks really simple, the beer in the glass is okay. The beer starts spicy, not dry or sourish. Round and well balanced finish, a bit earthy. Good for a non-alcohol beer!

Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter.

Phew, that’s a tough aroma right there...brought back memories of waking up from a night of hard drinkin’ with my face in Ben’s food bowl. I miss ol’ Ben, but I don’t miss this beer.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
12 oz bottle from Trader Joes; Nose of hay nad grain; translucent darker gold with a small white head; flavor grassy wheat, caramel, and a slight hop bitterness; one of the best non-alcohols I’ve tried; actually has quite a bit of flavor! I’d arther drink this than most pale lagers!
