Gerstel Bräu was, when launched in 1977, Germany's first non-alcoholic beer. This long experience in brewing non-alcoholic beer for the discerning drinker can be tasted at every sip.

Bottle, poured a nice looking light to med. gold, dry malt scent, very little malt sweet fragrance, light bread and toast fragrances, faint grass, hay and cardboard aroma, very smooth in the mouth, some syrup like sweetness, little malt taste and hop bitterness, dry on the palate, there is some off-taste, maybe it is pass its prime, I had this before and it tasted better.

Bottle. Golden and orage with a small head. Aromas are skunky sweet corn with some soft malts. Flavours are sweet malts and corn with metal towards the finish. Tastes stale. Horrible. Drink orange juice instead.

330ml brown bottle. Pours golden with a quick fading white head. Haylike/dry grass aroma with some grains. Flavour is also haylike, grainy, some sweetness, has some grassy finishing hops, trace bitterness. Light carbonation, had a bit of body, in a syrupy way.

Dark golden to bright amber color. smallish white head. Lots of malt and floral hops in the aroma. A bit worty in aroma, but that is somewhat typical. A smell of the brewhouse between the grind and the lauter tun. Actually quite dry with malt dominating. Herbal and grassy hops. Gets a touch thick in the linger where more sweetness is revealed. A very drinkable NA.

Well, this is the last of the n/a beers I bought & I’m pretty sure I won’t ever get another one. This beer was pretty much terrible. Pours clear piss yellow with a rocky uneven white head. The aroma is husky, skunky with a light bit of malt in the back. Light body with light carbonation. The taste is astringent and watery - not what I generally look for in any beverage. The finish is sour with a slight bit of spice indicating their could be hops in here. Needless to say this was a drainpour. Get a bottle of water instead, it would be better in every way.

Bottle. Clear yellow with a large frothy/lacey white head. The aroma is rough - watery, sugary corn profile...mild unpleasant grains. Oh christ, tastes like sour bread and corn. I can’t really see the attraction to this at all and won’t drink more than a few gulps. Thanks joey_capps.

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2006 This smells really bad; like pissed on wheat or something else terrible. It also tastes the same. Is flat and disgusting. Furthermore, it has no alcohol, so no redeeming qualities. Horrendous. This is my first time to score a beer with solid 1s. I think I’d rather drink my own urine. I found a worse beer. Hueberts Old Tyme Lager. So I raised my score on this one.

Bottle from Sikorski Deli, London, Ontario- Pours deep, almost hazed amber. Head is petit, leaving soft lace. Aromas are sugary corn, won ton soup, celery. Taste is over the top sweet, paper, vegetal, creamed corn. FInishes cloying, unpleasant. N/A or not, it’s rough. Borderline undrinkable.

Wow. The first beer that I actually had trouble finishing. I have had plenty of swill, but this was almost like drinking liquid rubber. Aweful.
