Gerstel Bräu was, when launched in 1977, Germany's first non-alcoholic beer. This long experience in brewing non-alcoholic beer for the discerning drinker can be tasted at every sip.

Clear golden color, minimal white head. Mildly sweet taste. Aroma is corn, cooked vegetables and vomit. This is so bad I can’t find words to describe it.

"Envoye-donc" me dis-je.

330 ml bottle from premiumnearbeer.com. Pours a clear golden colour with small white head. Aroma is cold vegetable broth - ugh, absolutely gross. Flavour is a skunky, vegetal mess - artificial tasting and full of corn and other vegetable notes. Definite drain pour. Disgusting.

330ml bottle into a shaker glass; served cold. Aroma: Massive amounts of wheat and honey. Smells pretty sweet. Appearance: Clear, dull, pale yellow body with no head. Moderate visible carbonation. Minimal lacing. Taste: Mild malt, wheat, honey. Lightly sweet. Palate: Ultra-light, watery body. Low+ gentle carbonation. Abrupt finish, ends on light sweetness. Overall: A decent N/A for sure. The honey sweetness is nice. I try not to compare NAs to alcoholic beers, and judge them for what they are, and Gerstel is a decent NA.
