Cask at Pigs Ear BF, 2011, London. Pours black-brown with a bubbly, off-white head. Sugary dark malt nose, some toffee syrup. Light to medium sweet flavor, modest roast, some burnt sugar. Medium in body with fine carbonation, and smooth. Sticky dark sugar finish, some cane sugar syrup, faint roast. Not bad, but with a rather light character overall.

On cask at Cloisters. Pours a black colour with a red tinge and a thick, creamy, light tan head. Aromas of caramel and chocolate. Similar flavours with dark malts and coffee. Moderate carbonation with a foamy mouth-feel and light CO2 prickle. A little thin with a bitter chocolate linger.

[cask at Cloisters, Edinburgh] Pours pretty much straight black, not much other colour. Decent off-white head from the sparkler. Light, chocolate aroma. On the taste, some chocolate malt and roasty flavours – but the finish is quite thin and fades pretty quickly. Some fruit on the aftertaste – highly sessionable but maybe a bit lacking [30082011]
