Bottled. Clear brownish amber, rich firm head. Sweet earthy nose. Sweet with rounded mouthfeel, some unfortunate boiled vegetables and malt syrup. Medium bodied with low bitterness. Disappointing.

Bottle @ Bierzwerg.de. Pours dark ruby amber with a creamy head on top. Lots of caramel and a bit of bread and dark fruit. Vaguely roasted. Smooth and medium bodied. Good.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!
Das Dunkle ist im Glas nicht dunkel, sondern tiefschwarz! Der cremige Schaum verfliegt leider recht schnell. Geruchlich malzig röstig, minimal rauchig und zudem noch süß. Schon beim Geruch liegt eine große Aromenvielfalt vor. Der Antrunk fällt süßmalzig aus, der Nachgeschmack wird wesentlich röstiger und hat auch was rauchiges an sich. Das Bier entfaltet seine Aromen von Anfang bis Ende! Wirklich ein absolutes Spitzenbier, das zudem noch überaus süffig ausfällt!

50cl bottle, BBE 06/2012. Poured dark brown with a decent beige head. Aroma is bready and roasty. Flavor is bread, roasted malt and hint of chocolate. Quite dry finish. OK dunkel.

Bottle. Dark red/brown colour with a nice lasting foam. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, caramel,bread and hops.Overall a great beer that goes well in hand with the traditionel winther kitchen

Tap in Strassenbahn. Dark brown-red body with a lacing rocky white head. Nose is sweet roast and red berry. Taste is drier with surprisingly medium bitterness. No mocha or choco or earth, but it’s padded-walls smooth and medium body. Drier and with some bitterness, kuphish says it’s like Newcastle with balance, and I tend to agree.

On draft at Straßenbahn. Clear, brown body with a rocky, off-white head. Lasting and lacy. Malt comes through big in the nose - big black sun tea presence. Some faint raisin notes. Bigger raisin in the flavor, actually all I can taste, but not in a bad way. Light-medium body. Malt forward with light, but balancing bittering hops. Avoids being cloying. Raisin lingers a bit with exhalation. Really quite like this beer!

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma and flavour of roasted malt, caramel, fruit and hops.

Swing top bottle. Dark brown color. Bready caramelly aroma with a hint of cinnamon. Malty sweetish bready caramelly dusty flavor with pear drups. Slightly disappointing.

Sehr schönes breites Etikett mit der Thüringer Kirmes. Auch das Aussehen ist spitzenmäßig, eine dichte hohe Krone schwebt über dem rot-braunen Bier. Stark röstmalzerner Geruch. Süß ist das Bier, das meine ich aber im positiven Sinne und nicht wie bei Biermischgetränken. Deutliche röstmalzerne Aromen sind im Antrunk als Unterton, ab dem Mittelteil als Hauptton vorhanden. Wirklich sehr vollmundig und sehr würzig. Ein Bier zum genießen von vorne bis hinten, mehr davon!

0.5 l bottle, thanks Timo A! Reddish brown color. Bready, toffeish and nutty with dark bread some raisins and prunes. Nice dark bread crust and raisin flavor.
