Bottled. Unusual for a German Bock but this one is very spiced in the aroma. Brown color, beige head, good lace. Light sweet, light bitter, herbal, spices, caramel. Dry and a bit alcoholic. One to remember.

Bottle @ Bierzwerg.de. Pours dark amber with a small white head on top. It’s very bready and grainy. A layer of dust and caramel beneath. Medium bodied. Decent.

Bottle (50 cl swing-top) from bierzwerg.de. Clear deep chestnut, medium beige head. Caramelly, nutty and slightly chocolatey aroma. Medium bodied, medium carbonation. Semi dry, light to medium bitterness.

Bottle courtesy of Ekstedt shared @ Ekstedts bock-tasting. Pours mahogany with a small off-white head that doesn’t leave much trace on the glass while dissipating. Smell is sweet, tiny sour and malty with dark bread, caraway, orange peal and plums. Taste is sweet with bread, wood, golden syrup, prunes, raisins and nuts. Mouthfeel is round and medium bodied. Finish sweet and slightly bitter with bread and orange zest.

(bottle) pours a ruby colour with a light copper tinge and a frothy off-white head. aroma of vanilla, coconut and grass, almost like a bourbon, though with more woody spiciness, hints of dark fruit and some excessive grain. flavour is toasted malts, light coffee, herbal hops and brown sugar, with a slightly dry, lingering smoky finish. medium to heavy-bodied with average carbonation.

Deep ruby color, small beige head. Aroma of caramel, toasted malts and some kind of dusty tobacco. Medium-bodied. A bit dry, coffeish bock, some woody, cellary notes. Later when warms up, more sweet and caramelly. Oily palate. Quickly vanishing flavors, otherwise ok, so far the best Gessner I’ve had.

Swing top bottle, bought @ Bierzwerg. dark brown color. Caramelly maltaroma. Malty sweet flavor with some roast, sugary notes and hints of caramel and butter. There’s just enough roast to compensate the sweetness.
