Bottle. Pours golden, slight head with a tiny bit of lacing. Aroma is copper, mild herbs, grainy sugars. Flavor is a touch sweet with herbal hop notes. A pretty good american lager.

From a 16 oz returnable long neck bottle, how cool is that in america? Of course its pale yellow and it has the typical cheap lager aroma, but in a good way. Taste is not bad, some hints of hay and the like. Decent carbonation. Refreshing lager with not many ill effects. Nice rather friendly finish without any bitterness per se but there is a slight hint of industrialness in there.

Goes down well on a hot summer day. That’s all I can say about it....Oh, yeah, it comes in 16oz. returnable bottles, which are perfect for homebrewing.

As many have said this is a good beer for the price, unfortunately I did not purchase this beer, it was given to me from a buddy. The beer is like Bud without the beechwood aging. Slightly sweet, a little skunky, not much to it overall. "Pocono mountain water makes the difference" This beer has drastically changed my opinion on the water up there.

Best beer for the price. Light golden color and minimal head. Not much of an aroma, but also no bad aroma. Easy to drink and no bad aftertaste. This is truly a rating on price. I was very surprised when this $12 case of 16oz beers turned out to be even drinkable. I actually enjoyed them, and will definitely buy this again in the future. As an added bonus, you even get $1.50 back when you return the empty bottles. Purchased in West View, PA 15229 at "Northern Beer Traders".

I remember drinking this stuff years ago when I visited my friend in college in Albany. We bought Gibbons and some Red, White & Blue. As I recall, RWB was pretty bad, I’ll have to check and see if it is still around. The Gibbons wasn’t all that bad. As I recall it was a typical low-end lager, golden color, with the obligatory malt and corn cereal flavor. I see from some of the other reviews that it is back in the Wilkes-Barre area. I’ll see about picking some up on my next trip to PA and recall those old days.

UPDATED: AUG 4, 2005 Gibbons Famous Lager is one of my father’s favorite brews. It’s been brewed for years but only available in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area for about the past fifteen years and only in sixteen ounce returnables. My Dad hasn’t drank Gibbons since the mid-80’s when my older brother brought a case (of cans) back from the Poconos. On my trip to Cooperstown, NY for Ommegang’s July 2005 fest I stopped in Schiff’s Beverage Center, Dickson City, PA and bought a case of Gibbons for $14.57 (including deposit) for my Dad. I was number one son the day I dropped the case off for my Dad. Gibbons itself is a coal cracker classic, corny aroma, yellow colored with some barnacle bubbles clinging to the side of the glass. Flavor is corny, creamy malt bubble gum macro beer. A great value for the price, and one of my eighty-seven year old Dad’s lifetime favorite beers. .

Another new arrival at Epps in Limerick, PA. Some redeeming qualities in this. The Lion brewery is not bad, and this one is fairly priced. I’ll probably lawnmower this one next spring.

Perhaps the blueprint for the taste of lite beers everywhere. Very pale in the glass. DYC said it best starts watery and stays that way. But since this classic got ChazyRph and I through a year of college it will always hold a place in my heart.
