3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Double IPA by Gigantic, from a 65 cl bottle with a label reminiscent of Transformers or something of the kind. Medium thick and irregular, egg-white head leaving some lacing, colour clear orange blonde with vivid sparkling; deeper copper colour and equally misty with deposit, with which a sweet and pleasant estery fruitiness is added as well. Dank, appetizing aroma of grapefruit peel, blood orange, lime zest, ripe peach, mango, walnuts, toasted bread, pine wood, baked banana, pineapple slices, dried ginger, hay, earth, champagne, bitter honey, bitter herbs, hint of beef jerky, and a fair amount of whisky-like alcohol. Crisp, clean with a controlled fruitiness, sweet and honeyish even, pineapple, hint of banana, sweet apples, orange flesh; some traces of resiny hops are already apparent here. Carbo is fairly soft, lean and supple body, a little bit oily, with a strong basis of toasted, nutty and slightly caramelly malts as expected from the style, supporting a strong, almost ’hot’, spicy, grapefruity, resinous hop bitterness, increasing towards the back of the tongue, made even drier due to a warming, even somewhat wry, almost wodka-like alcohol presence; under all this abrasive hops and alcohol turmoil, a subtle hint of honeyish malt sweetness peeps through as well, making this DIPA very balanced and therefore highly enjoyable. Perhaps not the most subtle or rich example of the style, certainly a tad too alcoholic for my taste, but nonetheless a more than decent representative of it.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
660 ml bomber
Appearance:orange with a small off white head.
Aroma: Good Tropical hops, pine, some caramel.
Taste: Very sweet Tropical fruits and caramel, some pine and biscuit malts, there is some good hoppy bitterness to balance it and the finish has a faint sour hint. Which make it quite nice.
medium body, average carbonation.
Solid executed DIPA, taste palate not super complex, but if fresh it’s very well executed.
