22 oz bottle. Bottled 12/8/2014. Bomber tasting at Timo A.
Clear golden colour with a small off-white head. Sweet pine, resin and honey in the aroma. Sweetness, resiny and piney hops, toffee and caramel malt in the flavour. Easy for an IIPA.

Draft. Holden pour. Not too much on the nose. Flavor is candied orange and sweet malt. Super malty. Not great.

Itís time for the hop harvest here in the Southern hemisphere and I have hops on the brain. I was also thinking how little attention I have paid one of my favourite styles, the brash, forthright IIPA. Will this be a classic example? It certainly appears so. Reddish golden colour with a big fluffy white head with a faintly greenish tinge. The aroma isnít as violently hoppy as I was expecting, but is still on the good side of substantial. It is more fruity than herbaceous. There isnít a massive dose of redwood bark, spruce and amber resin until you really dig your nose in. A taste offers more of this and in fact this is the main act of this beer. Thereís a substantial amount of chlorophyll characters that grab the tongue and twist it. Itís like having a mouth full of amber ale and then taking a piece of long green grass between your teeth and stripping it back, releasing those bitter chemical characters. There is an alcoholic warmth that gives a flush to my cheeks and then the flavour mellows slightly before a long finish. This beer is too big to have anything else. An exemplar of style? I think I was missing that aroma, but then Iím not disappointed by the flavour. We have a saying in New Zealand: yeah, nah. Ask a New Zealander (or beermail me) for clarification.

Hazy amber/orange color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of hay, floral hops, pine, & fruit/citrus; Flavor of caramel malt, pine hops, tropical fruit, and citrus (notably orange); Finish is dry & fairly bitter; Somewhat restrained - but good overall.

Bottled @ Rooie Dop Exit Party. 20cl sample. The aroma has oranges, grapefruits, some caramel, biscuit, some pine. Orange coloured beer with a thin, off-white head. The taste is moderate-max bitter, has some malty sweetness, citrus, biscuit. Body is not too heavy, making this an easy and thus dangerous beer. :-)

Nice sweet grassy aroma. Orange yellow colour with a small head. Very round sweet but also very hoppy flavours. Sweet syrop-like and then kots of bitter aftertaste.

caesar (5499) - Bunnik/Utrecht, NETHERLANDS - FEB 21, 2015
Bottle @ Rooie Dop, medium sample. Deep orange color, short head. Aroma of grapefruit, pine, biscuity malts. Medium bitter in taste. Decent stuff, but a bit one dimensional. Again a very easy dangerous drinker.

Bottle at home that was pretty unneccessary for the hour. reddish pour small beige head. Nose is lovely tropical fruits, pine and caramel. Tastes of red fruit, mango, pine, caramel, honey, resinous through and through. The dank hops coat throat. Lingering finish of red fruit.

Bomber - hazy glowing orange - minimal lace - smells of dank, musky citrus, grass, pine - medium sweet orange and grapefruit - low carbonation makes for a kind of limp mouthfeel - fairly sweet, a bit sugary - a lot of citric hop character - along with the sweetness, tastes like sugar-covered grapefruit - has a nice finishing bitterness, with some earthy malt character as well - meh, itís okay.

Pours a clear blonde beer with a fine white stable head. Smells hoppy and citrus, piny and malty. Tastes bitter. Leaves a fresh and floral palate.
