brystmar (1112) - Dallas, Texas, USA - JUN 26, 2013
Brown body with tan head and stubborn lace. Roasty malts, hearty chocolate and toffee backbone. How is this a saison again? More of a porter / strong ale blend. I dig it.

(22oz bomber thanks to bu11zeye) clear medium to dark brown, fine dark tan bubbles. Nose of chocolate malt, fairly rich, pretty spicy, roasty. Taste is roasty, chocolate malt, dark fruit, fairly rich, semi-sweet chocolate, nice finish and long lasting on the palate.

2013-05-31. Black body with a tiny beige head. 3+ Aroma of dark malt, very light spice and herbal notes. 6++ Flavour is interesting, sweetish dark malt with a lightly spicey not quite herbal undertones. Relatively sweet. Average bodied palate, light carbonation. Okay. Bottle at Mondial de la Biere 2013, Montreal

rejtable (1137) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 4, 2013
Pours cola with little head. Noting cofee, some cola and a solid tart background. Light tartness and light sweet in the tastes with medium bitterness. Nice blend of flavours.

bottle at mondial de la bière, mtl. pours dark brown with a low beige cap, some retention. chocolate, shy saison yeast or impossible to express itself underneath these chocolate and spicy layers, some minerals, lactose, lager-ish esters. prickly and inoffensive carbonation, light to medium body. not really on style but still enjoyable.

Sammy (8092) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 3, 2013
Imperial black saison, enjoyed at Mondiale 2013. Something weird. Getting chocolate, sage, carrot, dill, yeast. Very unique and weird. A little funky, very weird.

Quevillon (2407) - Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 2, 2013
Drank from a bottle at the 20th Mondial de la Bière, May 30, 2013. Black, no head. Aroma of smoked malt, spicy herbs and small ripe fruit. Taste of dark malt, a little smoky, notes of grapes, sweet finish. This beer is as funky as the label!

Lubiere (9423) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 2, 2013
A dark brown saison with a thin brown head. In aroma, a sweet fruity chocolate with dark fruits, prunes, molasses and licorice. In mouth, a sweet peaty chocolate with caramel, dark fruits, orange peels and alcohol.

Paid$ 9.04 for a 22 oz. bottle from Winooski Beverage Warehouse. Snifter displays a pitch black color with a thin ring of egg shell white colored head. Nose is chocolate, light barnyard notes and an Earthy spice. Taste is mostly the same with light traces of funk and yeast. The roasted malt seems to take over most of the palate. Medium body, light or nearly flat carbonation. It makes me think more of a Belgian stout rather than a Saison. Interesting brew and better than other “Black Saison’s” I’ve sampled.

neepsntatties (1114) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 14, 2013
Bottle. Colour...basically black with a thick tan head. Nose...a generalized roastiness with clove chocolate essence. Palate...sweet up front with sharp tang and a bit of burnt sugar and sweet spice. There’s a smidgen of dark chocolate here and a somewhat milky chocolate flavour that’s reminiscent of a light ganache. A tangy/bitter flavour that’s almost peppery lands of the finish.
