Bomber from Malt & Vine. Pours nearly opaque dark brown with a foamy/frithy(!) tan head. Aroma has a lot of chocolate, but there’s some fruity ester as well. Near full bodied. Flavor has lots of chocolate, lots of dark fruit, and some earthy "Belgian" aspects. Finishes a bit earthy/dirty chocolate, with dark malt and enough hop (I think it’s hop) to make it towards the dry side. This is a tasty, good, interesting and very nearly unique beer. Good on them brewers.

Lubiere (9752) - Ottawa, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 1, 2013
A hazed dark brown ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, dark fruits with light molasses, smooth vanilla, nice. In mouth, sweet fruity malt with light caramel malt, dark fruits, a bit too sweet.

Tap at Gigantic, PDX, 22/05/13. Clear chestnut brown with reddish hues and a thin beige head. Nose is dark fruits, toffee, dates, light spice. Taste comprises dark fruit compote, raisens, brown bread dough, dates, brown sugars, toffee fudge, light booze. Full end of medium bodied with fine carbonation, fruity tang in the finish. Solid enough Belgian affair.

2013-05-30. Dark brown body nearly headless. 3+ Aroma is lightly alcoholic and fruity. Flavour is sweet up front, interesting grainy rye like undertones. Caramel notes, moderate alcohol throughout. Average bodied palate, modest carbonation. Bottle at Mondial de la Biere 2013, Montreal

Bottle shared by haggerty. Pours dark brown with a modest tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a dark molasses flavor with a noticeable Belgian yeast presence. What a strange combination. Very dry finish.

Bottle:   Deep caramel, very dark, thin sudsy beige head, little lacing.   Bready and nutty aroma, faint caramel.   Similar on the tongue.   Fairly sweet.   No real dark pitted fruit, mustiness, or things I associate with a Belgian Strong Ale.   Seems like an uber Vienna or something.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Bready and nutty finish, moderate sweetness, some caramel and toffee like sweetness.   Not bad, not great, very pedestrian.   Nothing about this one stands out except its sweeter than most.   Otherwise okay.

22. Pours a murky dark brown with a dense and creamy tan head that falls away quickly to a loose film. Big nose of sweet raisins, caramel, and molasses. Creamy medium with soft carb. All the sweetness is back for the mid-palate: raisins, molasses, caramel. Long sweet finish. Not bad. A little on the sweet and simple side, but no obvious flaws in a relatively ambitious beer.

mcberko (5942) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 18, 2013
On tap at the Alibi Room for the 400th beer list event, pours a dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, chestnuts, other dry dark fruits, and caramel malts. Flavour of toasted nuts, chestnuts, dry caramel malts, and slight spices. Definitely seems between a dubbel and quad, with spicy notes. Decent stuff.

On tap at the brewery. Pours a dark copper color with a medium off-white head. A big fruity and nutty nose. Dark malts, big dusty yeast, Belgian candies, some heat, berries and massive sweet malts. Finishes dry. Good.
