3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Deep super dark brown coloured body with a large, five centimetre tall light brown head that stays afloat for quite a long time. Aroma of roasted malt, tons of milk and lactic notes, some pit fruits, grapes, oak and a bunch more milky notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive raisin and grape sweetness with a hint of light spices, a touch of earthy and anise flavours and a good dose of alcohol and bitterness at the end. Aftertaste shows a good roasted malt flavour with some dry oak and vanilla noticeable, but a good malt flavour cut with some strong sugars. Overall, a nice porter - nothing too special, but a solid beer and well worth trying if you can find it! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Belmont Station in Portland, Oregon on 12-April-2013 for US$4.98 sampled at home in Washington on 03-September-2013.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle:   Deep brown, cola hued, moderate frothy khaki head, nice lacing.   Pale roasted malts, a little musty, not all that hoppy.   Seems somewhat dull or light.   On the tongue its a bit dry, pale roast, a
little bit of dark pitted fruit and chocolate, but a lot of dirty mustiness.   Literally no hop, no bitterness, so its a little puzzling.   Its like this beer is 2 years old or something.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.
Finishes with slight ash, very pale roasted malts, not all that sweet, and a bit thin by this time.   Its very light and pedestrian, which is weird for Gigantic.   Perhaps a re-rate is in order.   Nothing really off
about this, other than its so light and lacks any bitterness or even rich roasty maltiness.   Just a snoozer of a beer.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle: Dark brown pour with a modest tan head. Good retention and decent lacing. Initially I found the nose to be a little like chalky PVC. Not good. As it warmed it improved... cocoa, roast, and light coffee. A little on the dry side and chalky comes to mind again. Good cocoa flavors and then BAM, the dry roast chalky taste roars back. Unpleasant plastic flavored burps. I’m done here. Please initiate time travel and stop me from drinking this. Future re-rate... maybe.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
650ml bottle pours black in color with a huge light brown head that leaves some nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is chocolate and dark fruits. Taste is a dark fruit and chocolate malty sweetness with a light roasted grain and herbal bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. A well crafted porter that is worthy of sampling.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours a rich burnt umber color with two fingers of khaki foam. The nose is roasted chocolate malt, grass and a touch of dark fruit. The palate follows with a moderate carbonation to bubble up a bit of malted chocolate flavor, prune, earthy roast. Decent porter but nothing to exciting.

Bottle from Brewery. Pours almost opaque, dark brown with creamy tan foam. Smells subtle, sweet, earthy, roasty and creamy with a hint of chocolate. Tastes warm and chocolaty with hints of vanilla and ends with a nice light bitter coffee.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Somewhat of a smoky nose combined with hints of roasted malt, and fruit. Pours an opaque brownish black with a robust, mostly lasting tan head and moderate lacing. The taste is dark roasted malts with hints of coffee. The middle and finish are grainy, while the aftertaste is bitter. Medium body with moderate carbonation. Overall, a nice bitter porter. I would have liked slightly more body, but this was still a very enjoyable porter.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse. Surprised this wasn’t rated a bit higher, I really liked it and I’m not generally a fan of porters. Pours very dark, lots of tan head. Aroma is somewhat slight, my only complaint. A little bit of roasted malt, some chocolate, coffee and almonds as well. Body is thin but lively, toasty. This is an awesomely drinkable dark beer.
