kramer (3457) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - JUL 25, 2010
Growler, RBWG 2010. Pours a black body with a small fizzy light brown head that faded quickly. The nose is roasty and chocolaty, with a little alcohol. There’s also a bit of a diacetyl note in there too. The flavor shows that diacetyl a bit too much with some roast, dark caramel, light bitterness and a little alcohol. Medium bodied, a touch sticky, with moderate soft carbonation. This might have been good had they let this sit a little longer and it was able to clean up some of the buttery notes.

Black with no head or lace. Sour malt, large coffee, and light chocolate aroma. Light chocolate flavor with sour malt. Medium bodied with no carbonation. More like a porter than an IS.

Dark brown pour, tan head. Chocolate and espresso are the stars both in the aroma and flavor. Some roast and light bitterness finish this off nicely.

On tap at the otter. Pours a deep rich black with a fairly dark tan medium sized head. Nose is sweet ripe stone fruits, coffee, and chocolate. Body is a little bit thin for an impy stout, bordering on medium, but I’d really like a big thick as motor oil body on this. There’s a light roasty bitterness upfront before moving into a nice clean bitter on the finish. Hides the 9% pretty well, only rough hints of any alcohol.

A beer that was very well made but when layed next to other Imperials it didn’t quite make it. Poured a dark brown/black from the tap at the brewry. The smell of coffee hit me right away, very nice. I think I liked how this one stuck on the palate for so long. To be fair I had just ate so I would like to try it again some time. It was very very smooth.
