3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
50cl bottle pick up while visiting Bierzwerg bottle shop where the label also states “#31 Hohenhaus” interestingly enough. It pours into a tall 15cl sort of “bigger” Kolsch glass with a crystal clear pale gold body that supports a decent nearly bright white head. The aroma offers up sweet soft malts and then very light notes of grainy malts, floral hops and vague faint citrus and pineapple like hops. The taste quickly seems not nearly crisp and snappy enough for the style as it is initially weighed down by a bit too much sweet maltiness.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
This is a good example of a Kölescher Bier! It has all of the characteristics: silky light body, light toasted malt flavor, altogether mellow and satisfying. Not the best Kölsch, but definitely a great representative of the style. I wish this were the popular session style at more bars. Thanks Lajos!

0.5l bottle. Clear pale golden body, white head. Light grainy aroma. Bread, grains and some sourness in the taste. Watery mouthfeel. Not much in it for me.

Bottle. Hazy pale golden, frothy head. Lightly spiced malt nose. Lightly hopped flavours, hints of hay. Quite boring, if you ask me.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draught in Cologne, April, 2013. A good looking kolsch. Dark gold color and a good sized, lacing head. Malt aroma and flavor, but it is light and effervescent, and I would say slightly floral in character. Sweet grain finish.

2.8 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
An average kolsch at the brew pub in koln. Very sweet but not with fruit you would want to enjoy. Tart sour at end not bad but def not best in the city.
