50cl bottle. Not bad, actually. Floral hoppy, grainy aroma, which carries on to the palate. The finish lacks bite though, a little bland. Hint of creaminess with a just enough carbonation to make it refreshing.

Bottle 500 ml at home, poured into a kolsch glass. ABV 4.8% Golden yellow colour on the body, with a good sized (for a kolsch) white head sitting on top, with average retentiion, leaving light lacing behind. Nit much on the aroma, bready as exoected, malts, after a carefull swirl some light grass aroma is surfacing. Sweet taste, not bad, some malts and hay, but also fresh cut grass and a touch of lemon to break down the sweetness. There is even a mild bitterness on the aftertaste. Thin body, average carbonation. Overall okay beer, but nothing really memorable.

Clear pale golden colour. White head. Malty aroma, hay, straw. Malty flavour, light hops. Malty finish. Rather decent.

Benzai (7210) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - JUN 19, 2014
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Martinus. Clear yellow - golden color, medium sized white head that diminishes quickly. Smell and taste aren’t really outspoken but no flaws either. A decent kolsch but nothing spectacular.

Bottle @ benzai. Clear pale yellow with a large white head. Smells malty, fresh and pretty default. Tastes malts, grains, fresh and somehow slightly lemon. Thin to medium body, soft carbo.

20cL at the Gildenhaus in Koln. Golden, clear, flat, but with a good bubbly head. Malty, a bit ’washing up liquid’, a bit crap. Reasonable local hop aroma. Had worse but I’m struggling to sell this one.

Can shared. Pours pale clear golden with a big bubbly white head. Aroma of light malt, grain and fruit. Flavour is over light sweet and bitter. Light bodied with moderate carbonation.

Bottle picked up from a REWE supermarket in Koln, Germany, consumed at home Thursday 3rd April 2014 This was quite an average Kolsch amongst the many that I’d had over the last week. Looks good, pours clear gold, with a white head, a bit too sweet with only the lightest citrussy bitter bite, fine. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Catch up rating. Pours a perfectly transparent gold with a nice white head. Little retention and little lacing. Smells of hops and pils up front, with a hint of citric sweetness also. The taste is very similar, with the hops dominating, but a bit of sweet citrus in the background. Very good; more to it than other kölsches. Medium bodied with good carbonation.
