3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beardface (1497) - Eugene, USA - FEB 25, 2011
Pint at Bier Stein. Dark brown pour with a moderate tan head. Hints of chocolate and caramel on the nose, but mainly a lot of mint. Flavor is pretty much the same, though the mint becomes even more prominent as the beer warms. This would be completely awesome with some ice cream in it as a beer float. As it is, still the best brew I’ve had from Gilgamesh so far.

1L bottle from Gilgamesh. Pours jet black like any respectable stout. Thin tan head that retreats to a ring, minimal lacing, not very carbonated. Smells like minty chocolate. Tastes much the same - chocolate roasty minty. No bitterness - even my wife likes this one. Thin body for a stout, but still a great dessert beer to share with friends.

It was Chocolately, and Minty, and Stouty, and I rejoiced. I must visit this brewery!

Nano Festival – Portland OR - 2010
Mint and light chocolate aroma. The flavor was light with both chocolate and mint. Dark brown in color hazy. I got quite a mint flavor from this beer. Very interesting brew.

Draught at Nano Fest. Poured deep brown/black with a thin head. Full minty and malty aroma. Full bodied with much roast, much mint and a lekker chocolate note. Roasty finish. I wish they bottled this.

Half pint on tap at Bailey’s Taproom in Portland, OR. Roastiness, smokiness with hints of dark chocolate and definite mint characteristics in the nose. Unique and nicely aromatic. Scantly transparent black body with a creamy tan-orange head present. Whoa...holy mint Batman! This has so much mint that a cop would only smell mint on your breath at a sobriety checkpoint. In fairness, there is a nice burnt roastiness that follows the mint with some bitter dark chocolate flavors. Once to acclimate your palate to the mint, this isn’t so bad.
