3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beardface (1497) - Eugene, USA - JUL 30, 2011
Tap at 16 Tons. Light golden pour with moderate white head. Caramel, pine and herbal notes in the nose but none of them really stand out over the others. Taste is much the same but with a little cilantro thrown in. Interesting brew.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 3fourths (6407) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - APR 9, 2011
brewed with cilantro puree, which doesn’t exactly stick out or make itself noticeable. the hops are american but lack strong aromatics from deliberately light late additions, which gives it an ESB character but with high acid american hop bitterness. highly attenuated with soft malt edges. might be a bit of a simple recipe but the execution is stellar.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Reid (1434) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - MAR 22, 2011
True pint( Imperial) at Venti’s Basement Bar, Salem.
Listed as El Nino Pale Ale.
It is dark in the bar but by the light of the candles it was an attractive deep golden ale with a nice off white ehad.
Goodly hoppy aroma, but balanced with caramel type malts..slight herbal tone.
Very nice hop profile, slightly piney but not outrageous, good body and again some herbal undertones.
Nice mouthfeel not too thin.
I liked this one very drinkable yet slightly off kilter.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 troopie (1647) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - MAR 21, 2011
Not sure what to make of this. This beer is called a Mexican Pale Ale, a type that I had never heard of before. It looks like a lager, tastes something like an APA with some spiciness and a bit of hop. Try it yourself and see.
