COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here come the hops! Handfuls of our three favorite hops (Columbus, Simcoe and Amarillo) are added every minute for 60 minutes during the brewing process. Three pounds of hops per barrel create a well-balanced range of hoppiness. Reddish in color with a medium body, citrus, and piney flavors dominate this brew.

Draft. Slightly above average IPA I’d say. However, I’m going to call BS on the 168 IBU’s. This has got to be a typo.....68 would be more accurate. I’m far from a beer expert but there’s no way this beer is that. Anything over 100 is usually super bitter and this is nowhere near that bitter. Something’s gone a awry Walter. Nice beer though.

On tap at the Gilgamesh holiday location in downtown Salem. Starts off with a nice bitterness that is folowed by solid grapefruit flavors. Taste of caramel malt in the middle dominates the hops. Finishes with a mild bitterness that is still being overpowered by the caramel.

This beer has a beautiful carmel/bronze color. The hops pop right out, with an IBU of 168, there is bitter follow up to the grapefruit, floral hops.

Had this at the Horse Brass blind IPA tasting, Portland, OR - Surprisingly dark, a little lacy head. A very light aroma, just hints of candy and a little strawberry. A real zinger in the mouth. Not a huge amount of flavour but a real smack of bitterness, especially down in the throat. Tiny bubbles prick the tongue. It supplies good hoppy burps though.

probably relies too heavily on caramel malt, as it’s a but chewy and fuller bodied than IPA needs to be, and the sweetness seems a tad excessive, but the hops are fragrant and fruity. it’s sad to say that once again oregon shows it’s caramel malt IPA bias here, something i don’t quite understand. even montana has figured out pale malt + american hops = ideal IPA. oh well.

Tap @ Higgins, Portland: Pours a dark orange/bourbon color with a nice full head and lacing. The nose is fresh and sappy, lots of citrus, pine and rind. The flavor is full bodied, lots of caramelly mouthfeel and melanoidins going on along with the fresh but assertive hop presence. Finishes balanced and refreshing, very piney in the tail and an overall chewy experience. Nice IPA, good balance of dry and bittering hops.

A pint at Applebee’s South Salem of all places! Nice dark orange /amber ale with a smalleggshell white head, that hangs around all meal. Strong spicy hop aromas mainlly, slight dark fruitiness in the back. A very tea like hop structure strikes me in the taste at first after that the hopping becomes more piney, this also has a substantial maltiness to it. Have to say the mouthfeel slightly dissapointed..too thin. Overall a nice IPA..not great but OK in my book.

Sampled on tap at the Tap Room in Portland, OR. Pours a translucent, garnet amber with a thin, creamy white head. Nice aroma, citrus, malty, sweet, roasted vegetables, cereal. Flavor is sweet, candy, roasted root vegetables, citrus, flowers. Medium bodied, lightly sweet.
