"My buddy held onto this for a bit too long (got it two months ago and it likely wasnít brand new) so the "cascadian" part has pretty much passed, but whatís left is ok. Little coffee on the nose, but ample coffee flavor. That saves the beer from being pretty boring otherwise. The dark malt is ok, but it seems Gilgamesh has a commonality with their beers, regardless of style or age. Itís not bad, but I like more of an obvious difference between styles...and not sooo strong of a house flavor. That said, this beer was pleasant enough Iíd give it another shot fresh

Choc coffee aroma with a hint of hops come from this clear brown ale with a med brown head. The taste is choc with a good blend of hops and a nice bitterness during the aftertaste which compliments the whole brew. The beer is med bodied and a good carb. Great dark ale.

22oz bottle. Pours out a dark brown almost topped with a tan head. Nose is tons of coffee hops and roast malts. Taste is as the nose with lots of coffee acid bitterness and a grapefruit pithy on the end.

From a bottle . The pour is a cloudy brown with a thin white lace head. The roasted malt is at the forefront of taste with hoppy coffee aftertaste.A slick thick texture.

On draught at imperial May the 4th be with you. Pours pitch black with medium thick head. Nose of coffee, malt, smoke. Nice balanced flavor of chocolate, hops, coffee, and burned toffee. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught in a flight at the brewpub. Pours a clear dark brown color, which seemed a little light to me. Nose was only subtly hoppy, with more coffee and roasting to the smell. Taste was slightly bitter, and roast/coffee dominant. Probably my favorite beer at this brewpub.

Bottle:   Soft honeycomb maltiness along with coffee.   Not a big roastiness, not a strong hoppiness.   A little acrid bitterness on the finish but its not too strong.   Smooth overall, nice malt background, with an added touch of coffee, but as far as roastiness or bitterness, those are very minor.   Maybe a good Segway to the style, especially those who like coffee.

A very nice Cascadian Dark Ale (Black IPA) brewed with Governorís Cup coffee. Very nice dark malt flavor.

Pours deep brown, nearly opaque with a nice fluffy tan head. Aroma is heavy coffee and malt with light hoppy notes of dark fruit. Taste is slightly sweet and then immediately smothered by roasted coffee bean. There are hints of malt chocolate and caramel with a slight lingering citrus bitterness finish. The body is a little on the thin side with mild carbonation. Overall not bad. Initially I did not think I would be liking this, but as i drink it and it warms it has grown on me. Feels like more of a hopped up porter than a BIPA. Not bad if you enjoy coffee brews.

Pours almost black with some brown light translucent edges. Really nice, big coffee aroma, with light hoppy accents. Pretty typical c-hop citrus/pine hops mingle with strong coffee and caramel maltiness. Overall this is one of their better beers, however it isnít dark enough for the style, and the flavor/aroma hops should be dialed up quite a bit to be more within the stylistic guidelines. I was glad to have tried it but I would not revisit without some recipe tweaks.
