Our classic ruby ale - a magnificent explosion of flavours on the tongue. Brewed using the best English kilned barley grain, the finest malts and Kentish noble hops.

33 cL bottle. Pours hazy orange to brown with a lacing off-white head. Mild orange fruit and malt aroma. Flavour is mild citric with an almost gone malt flavour. Citric and mild infection flavour into the finish. Sadly another bottled version that was off :(

Bottled. An unclear amber beer with a huge cream colored head. The aroma is acidic malty with notes of caramel and metal, leading to a dry and tart finish. The body is thin. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

(Bottle 34 cl) Clear, orangey brown with a small, off-white head. Lightly nutty and vaguely burned aroma. Light in body and a little low in carbonation. Very pleasant nutty accents, soft mouthfeel and a smooth finish almost without any bitterness. 040508

Bottled. Ruby colour, brief head. Citric nose. Sweetish and roasty. Solid raisniny crystal malt character, rounded mouthfeel. Grassy hops adds pleasant bitternesss. A very aromatic beer that fills your mouth with flavour, remarkably similar to how I remember Usher’s Ruby Ale used to be.

Red colour. There’s a lot of rich amber maltiness on the nose. Same palate, soft and with light juiciness.

A friend was kind enough to bring this back from his visit to South Africa last month. Murky ruby body with medium tan head. Aroma is medium sweet and fruity (melon, berry). Taste is floral hoppy, fruity (berry), medium sweet, and slightly spicy. Medium body. Nice accessible beer, eminently drinkable.

Draft at the brewpub. Nice red color with even, short, stable, and loose head. Fruity (plum and apple skin) malt aroma with an old ale twist The malt character shines, and continues to resemble old ale, with some bread and a little butter too but in check. Late bubble gum, bazooka. True to style. Here, the nitro actually works.

Bottle: Pours a murky amber topped by a tan ring for head. Has a surprisingly nice aroma, almost Barley Wine-like. Fruity, berry-ish notes with some grape character, along with toasted malts. Has medium, bubbly carbonation, with less flavor than anticipated from the aroma. Has an initial mild tartness with some berry suggestions, which leads to a crystal malt middle. The finish is slightly tart as well, without enough bitterness. A decent effort.
