4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow!!Found a gem at my new sushi spot tonight!!Not sure if this is the right beer I’m reviewing under though?Bottle was blue and fat.Description is hefeweizen style brewed from accumulated water from some mountain in Japan(damn I should have wrote this down...)Anyway pours a perfect yellow/golden color with a crazy banana-bomb nose!Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy medium body.Finish is long and slightly sweet. This is new to the Atlanta market so I will re-taste in the coming days but right now I think I have found the best wheat beer I’ve ever tasted.......

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
300mL bottle: Appearance is hazy golden brown with minimal white head, Aroma has some wheat along with some yeasty charter, Flavor is pretty complex for a German Hefe, very breaddy with some ginger like spices, again slightly yeasty. Does not disappoint.

Bottle. The silver bottle, except it says imported. Validated on the GK website. Medium plus body with decent carbonation. Flavors of wheat, citrus and light banana. A very good hefe.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
10.1oz blue bottle...which is actually the "silver" bottle...makes no sense. label states "ginga kogen beer. imported" and looks nothing like the picture. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out which beer i was drinking to say the least. the website would have helped, except its in japanese. after deciphering the package riddle i was surprised to find a pretty good beer inside. the aroma is nice with lots of vanilla, banana, and spices. a cross between a belgian white and a german hefe aroma. it’s very cloudy gold under a small creamy white head. flavor is vanilla cake, banana, lemon and cinnamon. medium bodied and refreshing with a nice creamy palate.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Silver bottle. Cloudy pale yellow with a white head. Strong clove and coriander nose as well as lemony acidity. Flavours are very spiced with coriander in the lead, finishing quite dry. Appropriate fizziness. A very refreshing wit with good complexity.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: APR 12, 2009 300ml bottle labeled as "Ginga Kogen Beer". Pours a hazy, light golden straw color. A small, fizzy, white head fades quickly, leaving wet lace that mostly rejoins the glass. The nose is pretty standard for a hefe, notes of lighty sweet, fresh wheat grain accompanied by banana, clove, and hints of lemony esters. Floral hops lend a perfumy scent. Flavors are fresh and crisp, with mild banana and clove again showing atop clean grain, with a light citrus blossom hopping. Relatively light bodied, crisp, and refreshing. Nice enough for the style. Well made.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from case and keg. pours a cloudy yellow/gold color with a big bright white head. Aroma is yeasty as hell, malty and full of coriander, orange and some banana bubblegum. Flavor is smooth and nice with cloves, bananas, gum, yeast, orange, malt and a spicy hint of pepper. This is surprising considering it comes from Japan. Pretty damn nice and underrated.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I first tried Ginga Kogen Ko Mugi Beer at Ippudo in Manhattan. This is a clear yellow ale with sediment once fully poured and a beautiful head. The aroma is sweet with light malts and a bit of alcohol. The flavor is full of sweet malts with a clean finish. This reminds me of a very clean Belgiam Triple. The best Asian beer I have tasted.
