Fruity beer with rich taste made by packaging "Weizen", the traditional beer in the South Germany made of over 50 % of wheat malt, without filtering beer yeast.
Note: This beer comes in the can, pictured at left, and in a new bottle that is labeled "Silver Bottle." US Import listed as "Plateau of the Galaxy" on back label.

Blue tinted bottle with blue label, white reindeers and ’premium unfiltered beer’ under them. Pale yellow color with slight haziness, strong fruity smell, high carbonation, slightly bitter citrusy taste, long finish. A nice hefeweizen.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2015 Good Japanese Hefeweizen in a beautiful and appealing blue bottle. Fruity and yeasty. Good summer beer.

Can bought at Food & Company in Gakugei-Daigaku. Poured into an English tulip. Beautiful hazy straw color with a huge white head. Smells of banana and papaya with some clove on the nose. Mostly wheat on the palate with some corriander, clove and pepper noticeable as well. Good carbonation and texture. Nice peppery finish.

Not a bad hefe. The mouth feel is nice three finger head, fruity aromatic but needs to be more bitter. A bit saccharine

Ginga Kogen has a thick, creamy, white head, a milky, opaque, yellow-gold appearance, and moderate lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of banana, coriander, slight smoke, and white wheat. Taste is of all that with bubble gum and white pepper. Bitterness is low, and sugariness is high. RJT

Can. For some reason I thought this was a lager so I served it in a footed pilsner glass, imagine my surprise when it pour a cloudy gold with a solid head of white foam - ummm... that looks like a weizen. One whiff, bready wheat and cloves with a bit of a fruity tang. Label check, yep made with wheat. I am just confused as to why they are selling a beer made with wheat as Komugi no Beer and another beer made with wheat as Weizen... I think the body on this one is slightly thinner. I switched to my weizen glass, a subtler nose and a fuller mouthfeel. The taste is a protein rich wheatiness & cloves, with a smooth silky body - in the pilsner glass the carbonation came off a bit rough. The flavor is nicely balanced but a bit mild. I like it and I guess it might be slightly different from the other Ginga Kogen Weizen... I think I need to try them side by side or talk to someone at the brewery...

30cl cobalt blue bottle. Pours a milky whiteish gold wiht a a large foamy white head. Smell is skunked, lame. The flavor though slightly skunked retains a lot of traditional hefeweizen characteristics, creamy wheat, spritzy lemon, and spicy clove, there is a bit of sweetness and it is a bti thin in the mouthfeel. Decent.

Poured a cloudy golden color with aromas of banana, fruited yeast, wheat, and some light sweetness. Flavors were yeasty, wheaty, and light banana, refreshing in the heat, could drink a lot of this on a nice hot summer afternoon.
