2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
(Can) A hazy orange/caramel color with a big rocky beige head. A very sweet nose, treacle, spun honey, cookie dough, with a hint of hoppy resin.
Sweet, thin, a bit tinny. A disappointing effort from this otherwise solid brewery.

Backlog. Canned, enjoyed in 2008. Amber color, slightly hazy. Aroma’s: sweet malts, caramel malts, hints of sweet fruits. Flavor is light sweet, caramel. Light bodied, on the thin side. Finishes just slightly bitter-ish.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Soap smell, then hint of caramel. Sweet malt, fruity hop, intense sour finish. Feels quite unbalanced, overly (sickly) sweet and sour.

Can. 275 yen or so from Kyoto Isetan. Golden orange color with a ton of carbonation & a white fizzy head. A malty sweet aroma with a hint of caramel. Not too sweet though. The taste is a fairly well balanced malt forward pale ale sweet with a hint of tangy hop bite in the finish. Pretty refreshing actually but after having tons of American pale ales this is a completely different beast. Just thing of it as a regular ale & you won’t be so disappointed. Ok for when you want something malty & light but not too sweet.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Can from Yamaya. Caramelly, fruity, hoppy nose. Fairly him body, medium carbonation. SomethIng unplaceable in the aftertaste. Too many things going on at once, not really balanced. Drinkable, but there are much better Japanese pale ales than this.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Can from local Yamaya. Aroma: heavy on the yeast, also some ripe garbage. Cloudy orange-amber, kinda ugly, with a 1-cm tan head. Flavors are yeast initially, then it goes to rusty water. Thin-medium body. Pretty disgusting stuff

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Medium creamy offwhite head. Hazy opaque pale amber body. Faint mealy fruity aroma. Dry-sweet resiny taste with mealy fruity notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, mealy mouthfeel. Dryish grape and resin aftertaste with mealy strawberry notes. Nice, pleasant, but not great. (0.33l draft at Sunset Beer Garden, Sendai.)

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Can from the local supermarket. Pale slightly cloudy orange colour with fast fading white head. Aroma is caramel and citrus hoppy. Bit weird. Bit of fruit in there too, apple and pear. Taste is bit too sweet, caramel is there in the background, but the sweetness is full on. Some fruitiness and a bit of a bitter finish, but it is all about the sweetness. Surprisingly flat in the mouth. I don’t mind it in a weird way, but will probably not have it again.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Colour is light brown, cloudy. Nose is touch of hop fruit, malty caramel and a bit of metallic from the can, which isn’t so nice. Taste is a very biscuity malty beer, with a bit of ale fruit and slightly sour and bitter fruit. No citrous at all. Bit of caramel in there too. Not an American pale ale and a strange version of a British pale ale, but it’s drinkable, if not memorable.
