7th March 2010. Clear dark amber beer. No head whatsoever. Zero carbonation. Dry palate. Some sourness comes through before sweet coca cola kicks in. A little repressed worcester sauce. Finishes airy and dry.

375 mL bottle courtesy of Papsoe. Shared at the 11th Richmond Ratebeer Gathering, 4/17/10. Pours a slightly hazy brown color with a thin head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, earthy notes, some breadiness and a very, very mild tartness in the finish. The taste is caramel, some plum, earthy notes and a mild funk. Medium bodied. Decent beer. MUCH better than the first faro I tried.

I actually liked this more than I expected. It smells like a regular geuze, with notes of stone, lemon and vinegar. Flavor is also typical geuze - citric acid, stone and vinegar, but if you concentrate real hard, you can get some sweetness. . Actually enjoyed this.

Bottle 37,5 cl from www.erzbierschop.ch. Red beer crimson saturated in plentiful foam off-white hanging on laces on the glass. Tart and fruity flavors, cider, lactic and medicinal keys. The taste is sour but moderated by sugar, fruity, touch of woody, apple, bitter almond, rancid and light notes. It spreads out on acidity, vinous, coated with toffy fading in finale.

Bottled sample consumed at Cambrinus. Pale amber in colour with moderate carbonation. Restrained aromas of funk, wood, and lemon. There’s a bit of sugar sweetness upfront in the mouth, but it fades quickly into more typical lemon, funk, wood, and leather territory. Light bodied. I quite enjoyed this one.

My first Faro, making it only 3 unrated RB beer styles. Orange copper pour with big fat bubbles. Head disappears and leaves a mass of frog’s eggs. Nose is cinammon spice and light sour. Taste is lightly and brightly tart/sour. Moves to flat bitter aspirin and yeasty sharpness thing. Enjoyable beer.

Bottle shared by lagunitasfan. Damp smelling but somewhat metallic..tame mildew..deep amber body with very impressive, silky sheet of tan suds atop. Flavors combine sweetness and sourness delicately, but seemlessly into a relaxing, not overly complex, yet relaxing concotion. There’s a subtle white grapey undertone and a sweaty, wet sock like thing going on that makes it not overly boring. Not too shabby.
