3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Blom (778) - Odense, DENMARK - JUL 21, 2008
UPDATED: OCT 7, 2008 Orange brown with a funky sour nose and a huge head. The flavours are weird and in strange directions, at one point I even tasted pizza and tomato juice.. The big picture is sugarish sourness though with a nice wooden touch. But why on earth are there additives in my lambic?!! Weren’t the lambics supposed to be original, natural examples of Belgian brewing tradition?
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ethereal (2355) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUL 7, 2008
Bottle at The Rake, with renffisch, duff and harrisoni, 17th May 2008. Slightly hazy amber/orange with a persistent white head. Strong aroma of gooseberries, spices and sour apples. The apple flavour combines wonderfully with demerra sugar flavours, ably abetted by a lively palate that tickles the tongue with bubbles. Smooth and flavoursome, this is a very good Faro.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 5/20 Geuzelambix (210) - København, DENMARK - JUN 28, 2008
I’m a huge fan of spontanious fermentation, but this faro doesn’t appeal to me very much. Too sweet and though it’s rather complex it doesn’t seem to exploit the potential.

Pours a clear reddish brown color with a medium, diminishing offwhite head. The aroma has a nice match of sugary sweetness and lambic funk and sourness. The flavor has a nice balance between the sugary sweetness and the Girardin lambic. The body is light with an oily texture and gentle carbonation. With 3 Fonteinen Faro, this is the best faro I’ve sampled so far, but then again, why bother drinking faro when you have a ton of Girardin Black Label at home?
