3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Countbeer (1943) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2011
Bottle:
Vast small off white head on top of an almost clear dark orange colered beer.
Smell wood, yeast, light sour, some sweets like sticky brown sugars, fruit like dried peach, dried prunes and dried figs.
Taste is a nice mix of sweet and sour with spices, yeast, wood, malts, caramel, some fruit and a nasty bitterness.
Nasty bitter malty sweet yeasty aftertaste.
Low carbo, soft light dryish light tingly ish mouthfeel, good medium body (tents towards a lightly higher one) and a light watery texture.

Clear pretty brown. Head was good and firm. Big fizziness. Tarter then any other Faro that I have had. I would normally love this style.

375ml bottle at the <a
href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/sweden/s target=blank>Akkurat in Stockholm, Sweden. Very deep murky golden-amber in colour. Medium sized off-white coloured head, lots of lacing. The aroma is quite sweet, lots of brown sugar and gingerbread, some herbal hops, earthy. The flavour is sweet at first, lemon citrus juice, gingerbread, brown sugar, some caramel. Slightly sticky mouthfeel, light body, light carbonation. Finishes sweet, with some very light herbal bitterness. This is a bizarre style but so far I am liking what I have tried.

375cc bottle gained in trade many moons ago from Jeppe. Pours out a clear, toasted brown color with a really weird head which reminds me of a clingy, retentive soda pop head. Spotty lacing is left behind. Modest lactic acid nose with a healthy dose of sugar thrown in, fairly appealing. First taste gives you just a touch of sour/tart and then some moderate sweetness moves in to balance things out fairly well. Medium bodied, decently carbonated. Best of the few Faro styled beers that I have tried.

Dark amber hue, with a beige big head, leaving laces, sweet sugary wheaty malt nose with some barnyard and musty accents, with a stewed apple fruity note, some wet oakiness, candy sugar, and a tart aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a wild yeast mustiness, some toasted caramelized malts, with some sweet and tart notes, with a hint of fruity pruney accent, with a wet woody, oaky character, some candy sugar, leading towards a sweet malty, tart and acidic finish. My kind of beer!

Tasted on 6/22/11 from a 375mL bottle sent to me in a trade, thanks to Boutip. Pours hazy dark orange-amber with a thick and rocky off-white head that slowly recedes to an even layer of lace. The nose is pretty classic lambic with sour lemon, earthy barnyard funk, and some vanilla and cinnamon from the oak treatment, but there is an added caramel note that I have never gotten from a classic lambic before. The flavor is still pretty sour with the lemon pith coming through, along with just a hint of the light barnyard funk and oak treatment with the sugar providing more weight on the mouth feel than actual sweetness. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long sour lemon and caramel finish.

375ml bottle from The Rake. Toffee apple aroma. Gorgeous toffee colour. Not as sweet as you would expect. Rather yummy in fact with a sourish finish. Extremely moreish.

Amber and slightly hazy with a large tan head. Aroma had diacetyl and a cidery sweetness. Taste was tart at first but passed pleasantly through sweet apple to a sharp grapefruit finish. Excellent.

Clear copper-red topped by a generous thick head. Light aromas of wood, red wine, slight acidity coming trough the nose (acetic?) with a complex fruity bouquet of black cherries. Light to medium body, creamy, light sourness, a touch of sweetness to balance everything and a lingering woody finish, just a bit too astringent. Very nice introduction to lambics.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 kbutler1 (1115) - Minnesota, USA - OCT 29, 2010
Bottle. Pours a murky amber color with a slight white head. The aroma is more funky than expected and has a slight herbal, medicinal note. The taste is quite a surprise and reminds me of sweet peppermint. The medicinal notes in the nose are slightly present in the taste but not as much, I think they get covered up by the sweetness of the malt. Very easy drinking with a light/medium mouthfeel. Some notes of cedar or wood as well.
