3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 leaparsons (6333) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2002
Ruby red in colour with quite a sparkle. Not as sour as the Cantillons of this world which I prefer. Still commendable and a nice change from other beer styles.
2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Kåstå (1221) - Mol, BELGIUM - APR 30, 2002
A very clear red-brownish lambic with an obvious aroma of raspberry. Very few bubbles, no foam formed when pouring. A slightly bitter taste with a winish finnish.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Belgik (72) - Sterrebeek, BELGIUM - MAR 13, 2002
Thin fading pink-white foam, the brew is a ruby-red color with few fine bubbles.
Intense and good raspberry aroma with some winelike impressions, very fruity.
Raspberry flavor with fruit rather than sweetness (there is no sugar added, says the brewer). Rather simple and unidimensional fruit flavor almost fully masks the ’lambiek’ character.
Too much fruit, too little beer, and lacking in complexity.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 omhper (15964) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 25, 2002
Clear red. Rather dry with sweetish aroma of very ripe raspberries.
3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Bov (7364) - Bienne, SWITZERLAND - OCT 23, 2001
amber colour, pratically no head, very strong raspberry aroma, sparkling, acid and sweet, sour finish
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Rutzicka (102) - SWITZERLAND - OCT 20, 2001
Nice red colour with few foam. It has a deep and quite disgusting raspberry nose. Very sweet, looks like raspberry syrup in mineral water. Definitely too sweet for my taste.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Oakes (10196) - Gibsons, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 9, 2000
The sweetest of the Girardin beers (unless they have a Faro I don’t know about), but bear in mind that sweet is a relative word. The fruit flavours do begin to drown out some of the earthy lambic complexity. Thankfully, there is plenty to spare.
