ZBF2008: From bottle. Pours clear and golden red with a little lacing white head. Solid raspberry aroma, dry yet fruity. Light sulphorish, dry raspberry flavour. Goes into a dry sulphorish finish. Nice.

UPDATED: OCT 15, 2008 Thanks Matt. The beer pours to a reddish orange body with a thin starch white body. Spotty lacing. The aroma is just like fresh raspberry preserves. Light malt quality. The flavor is awesome. Sweet red raspberry preserves. Oh so fresh and fruity. The palate is sweet, tart, but not overly so. Very delicate. 8, 4, 8, 4, 16 = 4.0. Re-rate. Exactly the same as my notes elude to. But, I liked it better.

UPDATED: OCT 20, 2008 Poured mostly clear orangey-amber with a short dusting of pinkish-white head. The aroma picked up rich, tart raspberry skins and seeds with a lovely level of funk and tart overtones.. very, very engaging. The flavor was sour throughout with raspberry vinegar, some lemon zest, and wheaty tartness.. the seeds seemed so fresh, yet there was some age and wisdom evident.. sour, long finish. Medium-bodied and again very engaging on the palate with lingering sour raspberries.. really good stuff!

2/29/08: Thanks to Facto for bringing the bottle. Poured clear, brighter raspberry with a short cap of white head. The aroma picked up fresh raspberry seeds and a bit of funk to it.. drier yeasty notes provide another layer. The flavor had tart raspberry seeds, dry floral notes, and dusty funk rolling along.. a little sour and well-balanced, with a great sweet/sour contrast on the finish. Moderately sour and funky on the palate, again with nice balance. Very enjoyable beer! 7 4 7 4 14

Pink-red color with small reddish head. Aroma of fresh rasberries, hints of cork or earth. Fizzy mouthfeel - with strong rasberry fruity flavors makes this a bit like soda pop. Some sourness, but not to extreme. Nice fruity aftertaste with light cellary notes. Light, balanced, even refreshing framboise lambic.

Bottle 37,5 cl. Pours a clear red with a pinkish white head and an aroma of fresh raspberries with notes of honey, vanilla and cream. The flavor is fruity with off-course loads of raspberries and a tart, dry sourness coming after that. Sour but not overdone and certainly not too sweet. Just really well-balanced and delicious. Great!

Nice aroma of sour raspberries. Good flavor of rasperries with a well dosed amount of sourness. The body is light with an oily texture and soft carbonation. It’s not amazing but still, it’s a good fruit lambic.

375ml bottle. Slightly hazy red with a big white head flecked with pink. Tart raspberry aroma with some yeastiness. Flavour began with some sweet fruitiness before a dry acidic finish. Very drinkable.

I knew I loved Giradin’s kriek, but hunting the Framboise never really came to me. I did not enjoy it as much, but as I should have guessed, it was a highly competent fruit lambic confirming Girardin’s superiority in the sweet fruit lambic category in my mind. Unclear reddish pink appearance with a lasting head that is barely paler. Well extracted raspberry flavour is straightforward and pure enough. Its counterpart of acidity is polite, yet frank enough to ensure a limited sweetness impression and pushing the drinkability through the roof. Minimal wood undertones also show up in the second half while the vigorous carbonation cleanses whatever sweetness is left away and invites to the next sip. Very good.

My Bottom Line:
Raspberries offer sweetness and tartness to this polite and effervescent paragon of simplicity. This is an absurdly drinkable Fruit Lambic meant for summer terraces and late afternoon apéritifs.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the hazy pinkish red glow.
-The finish is dry and a little tart, promoting once again some of that authentic raspberry fruitiness.
-When compared to Drie Fonteinen’s Hommage and Framboos, you can notice quite rapidly that the Girardin does not have the same objectives.
-The fluffy and active carbonation is reminiscent of some farmhouse ciders.
