ElGaucho56 (386), USA Apr 22, 2008 2 year old bottle. Pours a murky orange-brown with excitable but collapsing white head. Nose is major sour funkiness, leathery, citric, sherbety. Smooth if somewhat thin body, starting fragrant and flowery with faint sweetness before a muscular sourness prevails, ending quite smoothly. One of the more wild guezes I’ve tried. TrefwoordPunk (549), Leiden, Netherlands Apr 17, 2008 Bottle 75 cl. Pours a semi-cloudy yellow/orange with a tiny and fading white head. The aroma is dry, bitter, sour and lots of farmhouse notes. The flavor starts out a bit sweet and then gets sour and bitter. A funky gueuze, but not as good as some of the 3 Fonteinen gueuzes. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Apr 15, 2008 Smaller corked bottle. Pours a perfectly clear deep gold with lively carbonation and a thin diminishing head. Aroma is initially cork, then some farmhouse funkiness, and followed by a ton of lactic sourness. Flavor is extremely sour and acidic, wierd sour-sweetness on the tip of the tongue kind of like sour patch kids. Some woody and earthy notes in the middle, and finishes bone dry with lots of sourness. Very nice overall. Wim (1278), Turnhout, Belgium Apr 11, 2008 cloudy colden coloured body with a white head a woody fruity aroma a sourig sweet taste with a sourig bitter finich DownsouthGav (602), Greater London, England Apr 9, 2008 Bottle shared with Carlus12. Nose is funky, cheese, hay, apples and cider. Pors a murky yellow beer. Taste is complex, minerals, apples, sour. Tatse is actually quite discilined and not as wild as some Lambics. Tasty. ironchefscott (341), portland, Oregon, USA Apr 8, 2008 barnyard aroma’s galore....leathery mouthfeel that I love......and damn I think this is a great initiation to someone(like my girlfriend) who loves flanders sours and needs to step it up at bit.......great beer! lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA Apr 6, 2008 Bottle shared at tasting courtesy of Dewbrewer, I believe. Thank you!
Pours orangish colored with a wispy white head. Smell is lighty funky sour barnyard. Taste is balanced sweet and sourness. Begins very lightly sweet and then finishes tart and dry. Bubbly, fizzy active carbonation and a nice moutfeel that I haven’t gotten in some guezes. This was really nice and easily one of my favorites of the style beermaniac (86), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2008 Aroma: Funky, barnyardy, musty and woody scents just jump out of the glass. Fruitiness and straw notes are also present, offset by a little vinegar note. Awesome.
Appearance: Clear, light gold, with long standing white head.
Flavor: Mirrors aroma, just as complex, you pull different flavor components out with every sip. Absolutely unbelievable.
Palate: Bone-dry, with an almost salty finish. Mouth-puckering as it should be, with some tannins adding to this.
Overall: Absolute perfection. One of the best beers I’ve had, crazy complex and world class.
