Commercial Description:
Unfiltered.

Source:375 mL bottle purchased at Green’s in Atlanta.
Glass:Lindemans Lambic glass.
Appearance:Hazy gold pour with a two finger, bubbly white head.
Aroma:Sour apples and grapes with oak and funk.
Flavor:Tart green apple, lemon and limes. Sweet and earthy funk finish.
Palate:Light body with bubbly carbonation.
Overall:Not sure how this is a top 100 beer, as I have been more impressed with some of the other gueuze out there. Still a good beer.

(Bottle at Ørsted Ølbar on 2009-09-17) Golden and lightly hazy. Small white head. Sourness, wood, fruitiness and lightly sweetness in aroma. Dry, medium bodied palate with medium carbonation. Wood, sourness, malts, fruitiness, lightly vomit, bitterness and some citrcness in taste. Sour aftertaste. A really great gueuze.

First dip into gueuze here. Pours a pale hazy orange with thick creamy white head, lots of lacing and head retention. Aroma obvious of tartness, earthy character, citrus, and an expected funk. Flavor matches well and makes for a really enjoyable alternative. I will definitely be experimenting a bit more in this area, this was pretty dang good.

Pouts a hazy dark orange color with a thin white head. Aroma is funk, citrus, a little bit of band-aid, but not terrible. Flavor is beautiful, bright and tart with a great almost lemon kick. Palate is dry without being overwhelming and the tart notes in this beer hit the tongue perfectly. Fantastic Gueuze.

375 ml bottle from Sam’s Clybourne (Chicago, IL). Poured into a narrow tulip. Pours an almost layered dull gold that has some orange notes throughout, hazy and well carbonated, a big slightly offwhite head adorns the brew and dies down to a small layer, a little lacing. Aromas are pretty bretty, featuring horseblanket and barnyard funk above the citrusy sourness beneath. Vinegar, lemon and grapefruit, and some fairly acidic feel and sour peach. Initial is light, with good tart sourness up front, lemon and grapefruit with a touch sweeter side further in, moving into good bretty funk. Acid becomes a nice level, balancing well after a few sips, fruity citrus and peach move into light sweetness, fruits, with brett and funk complimenting well, juicy melange of fruit sticks out though and sticks in the finish and aftertaste with good acidity, sourness, tart, with light bitterness. Mouth coat is tart, but preaches a good sweet fruitiness as well. Really grows on me as faint rubber comes in towards the back end, light vinegar, faint cheesiness. Largely, fruit forward with sturdy sourness and matching brett to boot. Light bodied, but with enough oomph to bring the flavors forward more than other Gueuze I’ve had. Very very nice beer.

(Bottle, Akkurat, Stockholm, 26 Aug 2009) Pale amber colour with frothy, off-white head. Acidic, tart and fruity nose with vinegar, grapefruit, horse blanket and funk. Tart, fruity taste with notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, funk, almonds and a harsh, acidic finish. Medium body, dry. The acidity isn’t quite as wild as in some other traditional versions of the style, which gives this beer an excellent balance and a character of its own. Lovely beer!
