Has a sour, woody, brett smell. Has a taste similar to the smell. Starts off tart and finishes sour. Blom (390), Odense, Denmark Aug 15, 2009 Amber with a low head. Woody and sour aroma, some grape fruit too. The flavour is perfectly balanced for a geuze, not too sour, but complex insted: lemon, a little vinegear, stale, champagne. Highly drinkable and refreshing.
MoDog (909), Griffith, Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2009 375ml caged and corked bottle served in a tumbler. Cloudy golden orange pour with a thin, lasting off-white cap. Slick lace. The aroma included wood, light lemon, berries, and soured wheat. Acidic and sour. The flavor had acidic lemon, grapefruit, moderately sour citrus, dry oak, and also a soft, fruity sweetness. Very oaky with a nice funkiness. Crisp and light-bodied. Highly drinkable and quenching/refreshing. I think this bottle was fairly young, so I’ll have to re-rate an aged bottle that has had some time to develope.
