jason (1620), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to mcbackus. Corked read 11/06. Pours a hazy golden orange body with a nice thin head. Aroma is sour, barnhouse, lite citrus noted. Flavor is a dry sweet with a lite citrus feel, slightly sour with a medium carbonation and a distinct sweetness that danced on my tongue. For being such a young lambic this tastes very smooth. Leaves a syrupy mouthfel. Would love to see what 5-10 years would do. TBone (6675), Pori, Finland Apr 20, 2007 Bottled
Hazy orange color, small white head. Very fruity, sourish nose. Very fruity (orange, mango) flavor and of course lambic-like sourness. One of the fruitiest "sour and dry" lambics I’ve had. Very tasty. shp555 (1678), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Apr 19, 2007 Pours a orange, peach color with a white head that dissipates very quickly. Aroma is lightly fruity with sour notes. Flavor is fruity with lots of sour notes, some woody notes. Great beer just not to my taste. masonjer (560), Holt, Michigan, USA Apr 12, 2007 Updated: Jan 26, 2009Pours a hazy orange with a quickly diminishing white head. Smells sour, fruity and musty. Taste is much the same. Really enjoyed it, but it was very hard to drink very much because it was quite sour.
Re-rate: had this again recently. From this being my first sour until now, I can appreciate the balance and maturity much more. Really great example of the style, roundess to the flavor profile that is unmatched in an everyday readily available gueze such as this. This stuff is just the go to standard in my book. downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Apr 10, 2007 375ml bottle from Hopduvel, Gent. Despite attempting to open it carefully, the cork ended up hitting the ceiling and over half the beer discharged into my lap. What was left was a hazy golden colour with a delightful sour rural aroma of green fruit, citrus and cider. Flavour was dominated by tart acidity with a refreshing spritzy lightness. Finishes with a light bitterness. Very refreshing and excellent. gnoff (3560), Göteborg, Sweden Apr 5, 2007 Updated: Jul 7, 2007First rating (75 cl bottle at The Rover, Göteborg) Shady golden color, fluffy cream colored head. Fruity and sour scent. Lots of sour grapes and stable taste, very intense initiialy. Like non-ripe red currant, while they’re still green. Not very long aftertaste. Spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. 8/3/8/4/16=3.9
Second rating (Bottle) Shady copper color, small white head. Sour, acidic, raspberry, sweet scent. Acidic, sour, green currants taste. Sprityz mouthfeel, low bitterness. 9/3/8/3/17=4.0 skoisirius (570), Seattle, Washington, USA Apr 5, 2007 Updated: May 22, 20082004 Vintage 11.2 oz bottle into a Tumbler. Pours a slightly hazed orangish color with the ever so slight red hinted hue. Very thin, but excellent retentive white head. Very straight forward yeast and sour and old fruits aroma. A lot of the same in the flavor: very forward sour apples, cherries, and heavy citrus notes. High yeast flavor backing the whole tart mouthfeel that coats the whole palate very thickly. Not as tart as you would expect from a gueze, but still brings in the exceptional classic gueze flavor. Quite the exceptional and balanced gueze. Been looking forward to this one for a while, and it does not disappoint at all!! Recommend aging for at least 8 - 10 years!! Shadallion (526), Sacramento, California, USA Mar 30, 2007 Long saught after, as Oakes has hailed this as one of the Great Beers for many years. Finally located a bottle at Toronado. Did not disappoint. As others have said, it’s a massively complex, compelling, challenging, yet emminently drinkable beer. Would love to have a case of this!
