richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 16, 2006 part of my night of 1000 lambics at the steelgarden. pour was a slightly cloudy, highly carbonated golden color, aromas of yeast, apple, grapefruit and hay. the flavor was a very light blend of all these and more, as orange and lemon worked there way around my palate. i very enjoyable beer that didnt have the puckering sourness of soe other gueze i have come across...this still isnt one of my preferred styles, but if this were offered me, i would never turn it down. chronictonic (399), Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 15, 2006 Probably one of my favorite Belgians, and definitley my favorite Gueuze. Straw like gold pour with rocky white head that lingers. Crisp and tart in both flavor and aroma. Dry mouthfeel, with flavors of sour citrus and apple, along with some straw. Wonderful. TheEpeeist (1430), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 10, 2006 12.7 oz bottle. Cloudy honey sunshine with ripping carb. Eggshell white meringue head that never goes away. A few floaties dance in the bubbles. Sweet & sour apple juice, grass, and watermelon. The nose is quite appetizing on its own. Dusty Bartlet pear, quinine, mild sour citrus and apricot. Medium light with less pronounced carb than it seems. Exceptional balance; this really hits all the bases. Much like a champagne, of course, but with a fuller palate and a wider range of taste notes. Beautiful! IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Jun 10, 2006 Updated: Aug 8, 2008Bottle from 2004 Hazy apricot amber colored with a tall white head. Horseblanket sour aroma, with a sour apple note.Sour citrusy flavor that really excites the taste buds. Great lambic-gueuze! fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jun 8, 2006 Updated: Apr 28, 2008375 ml bottle. Golden apricot pour with a fizzy head. Aromas were very tart fruit. Flavors kept the extreme tartness. Almost exactly like carbonated grapefruit juice. Very Yummy eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 7, 2006 Opening of the corked bottle, nice overflow of carbonation, excellent. Poured a hazy amber-orange color with a nice head (lots of carbonation), a short lived lacing with each sip. The aroma was typical for the style, lots of funk, some citrusey and apple-like tart aromas. The flavor was similar, funky, tart-like, etc.... The blended concept was well-done here, as the tartness was very nicely smoothed out and softened. The after after after taste was somewhat cheesy. Sure, that’s not probably beer tech talk, but I’m stickin’ with it. Mouthfeel was carbonated and somewhat light to moderate. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Jun 5, 2006 Bottle: Darker amber pour fizzy off white head. Aroma is quite sour, some funky notes. Flavor, very tart and sour. Like a full bag of sour patch kids without a drink of water. Some apple and lemon. Really nice finish, the after taste just blossoms in the mouth. This is fantastic. Rating #200 in the books. Theis (3617), Denmark Jun 5, 2006 Bottle at Københavns Øldage 2006, Stand 29 (Belgisk Bryg), they had it hidden we got it because we asked for something special. Stand 3 (My Beer) had it sold out. Strong sour smell and flavour, wood, fruits...just as we wanted it. It cleans nicely, so we could taste another strong stout after.
