henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Mar 22, 2006 Bottled 02.2004 - Beautifully golden, orange with a low but creamy white head that lasts; Incredible nose, deep and super complex, the full geuze package of lemon/citrus, very fresh green apples under it notes of cigar box (ceder+tobaco), hay, horse (uuuhhhhhhhh fantastic!!!!!); The body has a super balance, acidy fresh with a very, very little and nice, soft sweetness to it; The finish is fantastic as well. It is perfectly dry (not super dry), with very little tannin that brings a mouth-feel that makes you want to chew the beer. All this with a lemon/grapefruit, later cedar touch, that lasts forever. This is for sure my favorite geuze, if not my favorite beer of all. This is a masterpiece!!!! PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Mar 19, 2006 Knightly Spirits, Orlando, Fl. - 12.7 fl oz bottle. Pours a murky, nectarine colored orange wtih a long lasting fluffy, creamy white head. Aroma reminds me of the hard, flat bubble gum you used to get in baseball cards. Hint of vinegar as well. Very sour. Flavor has the requisite sourness, some sweet tart candy, peaches, dry white wine. Mouth puckering, but in a good way. Leaves you thristing for more. Carbonated mouthfeel - but not too fizzy. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 18, 2006 Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc, blankboy & HogTownHarry - courtesy of tupalev. Hazy sunset-gold colour with just the faintest hint of a white head. Aroma is sour & funktastic - notes of stinky cheese, lemon, yeast & wet dog - sounds like crap, i know, but it was damn good! Flavour is fantastic as well - concentrated citrus notes, lots of lemon and grapefruit, with a dusty yeastiness coming in behind. Killer! thornecb (1735), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA Mar 18, 2006 Cork popped and rapid foam streamed out of the bottle. Quickly poured into a tumbler. Horseblanket with hazy cider appearance. Thin, constant head. Sour, bitter taste -- like sour patch kid without the sweet turn. Citrus rinds. Fizzy with a lasting sour finish. Refreshing Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Mar 16, 2006 Updated: Dec 23, 2008Smaller corked bottle. Pours a perfectly clear deep gold with lively carbonation and a thin diminishing head. Aroma is initially cork, then some farmhouse funkiness, and followed by a ton of lactic sourness. Flavor is extremely sour and acidic, wierd sour-sweetness on the tip of the tongue kind of like sour patch kids. Some woody and earthy notes in the middle, and finishes bone dry with lots of sourness. Very nice overall. Veer (355), Landskrona, Sweden Mar 15, 2006 Updated: Apr 21, 2006Aroma: sour, lime, citrus, strawberries, really musty, grapes, leather, leaves.
Appearance: turbid orange yellow grey brownish. Yellowy white head (short).
Flavor: sour, vaguely bitter, very berryish acidity (as of black currant), some sweetness (?), roasted.
Palate: smooth & harsh, corrosive, sharp, slightly slimy, cool. ehhdayton (1113), USA Mar 14, 2006 The aroma has a musty, horse blanket, and barnyard elements. The color is golden with a fizzy white head. The flavor is sour and tart with a slight honey touch. The finish is acidic. Aquahop (8), Oregon, USA does not count Mar 3, 2006 Classic example. The horse blanket is moderatly high, though not at all overwelming. Tart but not too sour. Very rich beer with complex shipwreck(wet wood) and lactic notes. One of my favorite lambics.
