Aquahop (8), Oregon, USA does not count Mar 3, 2006 Classic example. The horse blanket is moderatly high, though not at all overwelming. Tart but not too sour. Very rich beer with complex shipwreck(wet wood) and lactic notes. One of my favorite lambics. tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 1, 2006 Bottle, thanks to a trade I did at Christmas with CaptainCougar, shared with Blankboy, Hogtown Harry, Jerc, and GregClow. First impression: Funky! Incredibly musty aroma, wet hayfield, barnyard, yeast, dust, wow. First sip is just as startling with that real earthy barnyard like taste. Each sip reveals a little more as you adjust, with lots of yeast, lemon, and citrus taste pinging off the back of your throat. As Jerc said, this beer has character and is on another level compared to the Guezes I have had up to this point. Stunning stunning stuff, I could gladly sit down with another bottle of this all to myself any time. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 28, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & tupalev -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a hazy orange with a spare white head and some floaties. Aroma is funky, sour, musty, cheesy and other stuff that shouldn’t smell good but it does -- It really, really does. The flavour is sour and crazy mouth-puckering concentrated CITRUS! Like chewing on citrus rind. It’s good though, if you like that kind of thing. I definitely couldn’t drink a whole bottle of this to myself but shared amongst friends it’s a really nice treat. smcd (366), USA Feb 27, 2006 Like licking a horseblanket in a room full of pies after drinking a glass of unsweetened lemonade. Dry and refreshing. Effervescent. Perfectly medium bodied. What’s not to like about licking a horseblanket? Mmmmmm. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands Feb 25, 2006 great geuze!! nice horseblanket and lemon in the nose. tasted not as sour as expected, lemon, grapes and a lot of good classical lambic notes. finishes long and sourrish. smooth body. and oh the cork almost made a hole in a concrete wall :) jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 24, 2006 I wanted not to like it. I really did. When it comes right down to it, this beer is the ultimate example of why I hate most other sour beers and lambics - they lack character. Throwing a bunch of brett into something does not make it a decent beer. This, has character.
A murky cidery appearance with a miniscule white head. Complex yeasty must in the aroma, acidic damp golden retriever, hay/straw. Mouth puckeringly sour first impression is offensive in its onslaught, but persistence is rewarded as it wanes with each brave sip. Sour-tart, fruity notes, akin to chewing a mouthfull of lemon seeds at times. Lingering lemon-grapefruit is surprisingly strong, gripping at the back of the throat. Average palate is pleasantly effervescent. Grew on me more and more with each sip, but I am not sure I would want a bottle to myself - Decisively better than Coors Winterfest. :)

"Why would we have smelled wet sheep exactly?"
Harry: "Well it they are wet, and warm, and close..." HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Feb 24, 2006 Bottle (375ml). Shared with blankboy, GregClow, jer and tupalev - tupalev’s bottle. Oh, dear, what a wonderful gueuze. Poured hazy orange with a smallish white head. Aroma of serious funk - sour lemon and other citrus, yeast, cheese, wet sheep - gets even more sour and peppery as it warms - my nose hairs were curling up. Taste follows the aroma, very sour lemon, yeast tang galore, with the rich lemon and grapefruit it’s very juicy and easy to drink. Mouthfeel is thick, acidic, lively and bitter - nearly perfect. Best gueuze I’ve ever had. Thanks for this one, Jeff! TURDFERGUSON (1594), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Feb 19, 2006 Bottle. pours a beautiful orange-amber with a small white head that dissipates rather quickly. good carbonation. Typical gueuze aromas--barnyard, sour, funk, and a bit of vinegar. more funk in the taste, vinegar, and I even think i am catching a taste of olives (or strong olive oil) on the palate. A superb gueuze that I wish i had more of.
