First dip into gueuze here. Pours a pale hazy orange with thick creamy white head, lots of lacing and head retention. Aroma obvious of tartness, earthy character, citrus, and an expected funk. Flavor matches well and makes for a really enjoyable alternative. I will definitely be experimenting a bit more in this area, this was pretty dang good.

Older 37,5cl bottle - on cork till 2012. Murky unfiltered haze dark gold. Beautiful airy head. Lactic tart, sour, old lemon, soft brett. Round full body, low carbonation, soft soft soft. Amazing aging process happened here, on a relatively small amount of time (4 years?).

Har haft en del bedrövliga Girardin men den här varianten var trevlig. Subtil nyans av ättika men inte så det stör. Verkligen en av få bra Girardin. Minns nytappad kriek i Bryssel, men annars alltid besviken. Ren, härlig och balanserad. Inte så komplex, men ej heller några fel. Lättdrucken.

Bottle. Clear dark golden to light Amber with small off white head. Very herbal at first with wet wood, hay, dead leaves. Then some apricot and light malts. Old damp clothes, wool. Taste is light sweet with a long bitter finish and light tartness throughout. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Interesting stuff, a bit too bitter for me, and seems a bit unbalanced, but quite nice aroma.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The appearance is pale golden color without foam not not worth writing about considering what’s about to follow.
This is easily the most complex beer I had so far. It doesn’t tell me what it is or what it want to be. The carbonation is stunning. Omnipresent and infinitesimal. The sourness I expected, is there but in an indirect way. The taste is so dry, you temporarily doubt that you have a liquid in your mouth. There are hints of apple in there, but difficult to grasp a descrete taste a can easily name.
This beer leaves me confused and probably wants to be tried by me when I’m more worthy.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a rather young one, 2014. Orange color with small head. First impression: Funk and citrus aroma. A bit phenolic. Wood. Taste is spritzy, but with a hint of sweet brown fermented apples (a hint of Apfelmost), hay, cheese (ziger?). A bit of citrus maybe as well. Moderate sourness. Crazy bitter dry aftertaste. Nice perlage carbonation. Among my favourite Gueuzes, although I usually prefer the really really sour ones. This one is more subtle and complex. Fantastic!

The fully traditional ’oude’ geuze Girardin, 100% lambic and no sugar added. Hazy orange blonde colour, thinnish off-white head. Exceptionally rich and complex aroma, lots of fruitiness, citric acid and lactic acid in perfect balance, sour cream, dry sherry, hay and all the funkiness offered by the best of lambics.
