2012 bottle that’s been sitting around for a few months. Cork comes out readily. The aroma of this beer is an experience on its own - apple, hay, lemon rind, and a pronounced herbal funk (including some lightstruck character). Deep gold in color with a slight haze. This particular bottle was unusual because it raised a substantial head of foam that lasted. Taste follows the aroma with a nicely balanced acidity. Apple peel, lemon rind, grain, hay, and an intriguing funk. A fantastic balance of each individual character. Prickly carbonation. Mouthfeel is appropriately dry and champagne-like. Possibly not the most "challenging" gueuze, but probably my favorite for its balance of funk, fruit, and acid.

Bottle shared at home.pours cloudy light amber. Aroma of vinegar, white wine, and horse stable. Very tart taste with hay and vinegar. Pretty good for a 5 % gueuze, but nothing special.

37,5 cl, flaske, 5,0 % ABV, købt i Barley Wine i CPH City, 14. september 2014.
Kobberfarvet og ufiltreret Geueze med mindre hvid 1 cm tyk skumkrone, som svinder langsomt.
Aromaen er ikke kæmpe tydelig, men der er noter af grapefrugt, appelsinskal, citrus, stald og Brettanomyces gær.
Smagen er sur, men velafbalanceret på en lidt uforklarlig måde. Smagen mildnes til noget bittert sidst i billedet og afsluttes meget pludseligt, men det bitter/sure hænger lidt ved.
Opsummering: middel til kraftig sur, let bitter og zero sødme.
I munden er der øl med medium fyldig krop og en del kuldioxid, som kun får det bedre at stå lidt og bruse af. Konsistensen er oily til cremet.
Måske den bedst afbalancerede Geueze, jeg har smagt og fortræffelig til at balancere en ølaften, tænker jeg.

UPDATED: SEP 4, 2014 Bottle @ Elfo’s Pub, Perugia, Italy. Pours with a hazy beautiful bright colour, small short-lasting white head. Aroma has notes of fruit, especially grape, complex. Taste is softly sweet, medium to heavy sour.
Palate is little to medium body, watery texture, average carbonation.

375 ml bottle at Hoppy Pub Thessaloniki. Golden color with nice white head. Aroma is sweet sour, musty, funky, fruity. Taste is light sweet, quite salty and a little sour. Light body, soft carbonation.

375ml Bottle - Amber in colour. Sultanas, dried apricot and musty notes in the aroma. Refreshing and fairly tart taste with wood, dried fruit and some slightly sharp musty notes. An authentic yet fairly accessible gueuze.

UPDATED: SEP 1, 2014 Bottle. Pours hazy golden yellow, nice regular white head. Aroma is tart apples, clean brett and a bit stall. Taste is sour, tart and soft carbonation. This gueuze is based on the fruity, but citric apply sourness. Some wood. Quite dry.

Wow. Incredibly complex aroma of fruit, tart apple, brett funk, cellar notes, wood,. Flavour is masterfully tart, well-balanced sourness. Finish is very dry. Really, the balanced and compelling way the aroma and flavour interplay is a stroke of brilliance. Best Gueuze I’ve had to date, and probably my favourite beer altogether. I will drink this at every opportunity.

Bottle poured at Tipples Rare and Barrel Aged Beer Tasting on July 13, 2014. Pours light yellowish gold with a small rim of white head on top. Aroma of candi sugar and mint leaves, dry, dusty, light citrus. Flavor is funky like my gym socks. Whoah. Some lemon notes, dry oakiness, and some vanilla as well here. More chewy body than other gueuzes in the class that I’ve had, and low plus carbonation. Nice brew overall, and a bit of a change-up from the LP Gueuze earlier in the night. Recommended.

Nose is lemon, lime, straw, hay, horse blanket, tart red berries and hints of barnyard funk and burnt rubber. Taste is bretty barnyard funk tones, burnt rubber, straw, hay, tart red berries, citric peel and hints of lemon, lime and stable funk. Complex, with a dry finish and a crisp, clean mouthfeel. Tart, yet balanced. Funky, yet strangely accessible. I like it. A lot.

UPDATED: SEP 6, 2014 The fully traditional ’oude’ geuze Girardin, 100% lambic and no sugar added. Hazy orange blonde colour, thinnish off-white head. Exceptionally rich and complex aroma, lots of fruitiness, citric acid and lactic acid in perfect balance, sour cream, dry sherry, hay and all the funkiness offered by the best of lambics. Taste has all the barnyard one would expect from a traditional lambic beer, vinegar, yoghurt and lemon, sour fruits, all in perfect balance, long and very complex finish, woody and funky in a totally elegant way. Its elegance and balance make it the best of the regularly produced geuzes, at least to my opinion. Masterpiece and a great advertisement for the utter complexity of the products of lambic land.
