Beerlando (2305), Orlando, Florida, USA Oct 12, 2009 Bottle from De Bierkoning. Mostly clear and pure amber in hue, the body is strewn with streams of tiny bubbles that pool into a small, fizzy head of off-white foam. Minimal, splotchy lacing marks the glass. The aroma shows a semi-sweet, fermented fruity funk, with a grapey, cider-like tartness and hints of wild must. There’s a bit of peppery, almost meaty spice that I’ve never before encountered in a
lambic. Flavors are similar, tart and somewhat vinegary, driven by sweet and sour apples and grapes. The moderate body is fizzy and zesty,
a bit sugary for the style, coating the mouth after the finish. Though it’s fairly tasty, the sugar content keeps it drinking on the heavy side for a gueuze. Decent, but the black label destroys it. jfb (413), Weihenstephan, Germany Sep 23, 2009 (bottle) pours a beautiful clear amber colour with a frothy but quickly dissipating white head. aroma of citrus and grain, with a little barnyard and sour funk, nicely balanced. flavour is like the aroma, quite mild overall and finishes on a rather nice dry medicinal bready note. light to medium body with lively carbonation. eManu (185), Brussels, Belgium Sep 19, 2009 Pours a clear orange color with a nice thick white head that last a long time. Aromas of sour apples. Flavors are a very cider like, with apples and a note of oak and sweet and sour, very well balanced. Easy to drink and quite refreshing, very enjoyable. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Sep 15, 2009 [9/3/08] Bottle at In De Wildeman in Amsterdam. Clear deep golden, almost amber color. Aroma of earth, lots of honey and some funk. Sweet-sour flavor with some citrus, honey and some caramelly notes. Medium-bodied. wouterpulinx (27), Belgium Sep 13, 2009 37,5cl. This was my first Gueuze ever! Pours dark yellow, medium head. Head is almost gone after 10 seconds. Lots of carbonation.Spicy sour nose. Flavor is sour, but good balanced. Love the lemonsourness at the end. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Sep 4, 2009 Orange with thin white head. Not as impressive as the black label but I enjoyed this a lot. It had got to the time of night when I really needed a palate cleanser. Sat on the porch on honeymoon, drank all day and this hit the spot big time. Smells of fresh bed sheets and sherbert. And the usual farmyard hint. The mild and mellow flavour made it very neckable. garthicus (1272), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 1, 2009 Shared by Jerc and Mabel. Appearance: Light orange, small white head, lots and lots of carbonation. Aroma: Caramel, rasberry, sugar, lemons and orange squash. Flavour: Caramel, bitter lemon, pepper, salty with malt and apples. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Aug 27, 2009 Updated: Aug 30, 2009Bottle, 75cl corked. It’s a slightly hazy, orange beer with a lasting, finger thick off-white head on top. Funky and citrusy on the nose, barnyard and some horse blanket notes. Citrusy, quite moderately funky flavor with some leather. Citrusy finish with some barnyard and horse blanket. Medium body with a nice carbonation. A really nice beer, but I would like it more intense. Really quaffable. 090619
