0.25l bottle from Bierkoning @ Tulip hotel room. This is a crystal clear dark woody-golden one with a massive off-white foamy and fluffy top that fills the whole glass. On the nose it’s subtly woody and lactic sour. I get lot’s of sour red berries with a little bit of sulfur fart and ketchup. Smells interesting. It’s soft on the carbonation and light oily to watery on the texture. It’s not directly sour this, more woody and aged. It tastes kinda old and dusty with red berries and some thin watered out white vine vinegar. Nice, but surprisingly sweet. 30.09.2012

375ml bottle from trade. Thanks SlovakSniper. Aroma: oxidized caramel, froment, spices, shy wilderness. Way different. App: hazy golden with minimal white head, little retention, shy lacing. Taste and palate: medium body, soft carbonation, light sweetness, good tart and acidity finish. Overall: good palate but unfortunately the aroma isn?t that great and taste, well, its a bit better. Wish it was more fruity in the nose. Anyway still something interesting. Wonder how it would taste in a few years.

0.25 l bottle from ’De Bierkoning’, best before June 2016. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sourish, fruity-spicy aroma of oak, vinegar, old lemons and a bit of lovage. Sourish, fruity-spicy taste of oak, vinegar, old lemons and some lovage, followed by a medium long, tart and spicy finish. Thin to medium body, astringent and effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. This smells and tastes somewhat odd, a bit stale, but it clearly provides some similarities to the unfiltered version. This one is less appealing though, I prefer the black label by far. Totally unnecessary addition to the brewery’s portfolio.

amber colour, medium sized off-white head; aroma of caramel, balsamic vinegar, tart, some peach, dried cherry and plum, earthy notes, maybe some woody notes, as well ; very well balanced bitterness, sourness and sweetness in the taste with fruits (dried cherry, mostly) , hints of citruses, and tart; excellent gueuze

Orange clear color with little foam ring. The smell has the almost obligatory old feet and than a clean citrus part. The taste is funky, sparkling, fresh and a little sour. The aftertaste is dry and sour.

0.75l bottle, courtesy of SinH4. Rather thin for a gueuze. Some funk, but rather weak altogether. Still not a bad beer, of course!

Clear golden-orange color with white head. Aroma is funk, sweat, apples. Taste is similar, with a slightly metallic finish, also a bit bitter. Not comparable to the Black label, a bit thin. Rather soft carbonation.

Clear orange color with white head. Aroma is fruity with some light vinegar notes and a bit of funk. Taste starts tart up-front with unripe citrus fruit notes. Gets more mellow towards the finish and aftertaste. It has also some bitterness at the finish. One of the more clean, easy to drink gueuzes.
