0.25l bottle from Bierkoning @ Tulip hotel room. This is a crystal clear dark woody-golden one with a massive off-white foamy and fluffy top that fills the whole glass. On the nose it’s subtly woody and lactic sour. I get lot’s of sour red berries with a little bit of sulfur fart and ketchup. Smells interesting. It’s soft on the carbonation and light oily to watery on the texture. It’s not directly sour this, more woody and aged. It tastes kinda old and dusty with red berries and some thin watered out white vine vinegar. Nice, but surprisingly sweet. 30.09.2012

Bottle at the Poechenellekelder. Quite a surprise. Has a faro feel to it somehow. Nice funkiness in the nose, musty, bit of coconut, almond. Taste has a touch of sweetness, hint of coconut again, not aggressive at all. Apples. Cider like elements even. Quite soft carbonation. Marzipan, very light citrus. Interesting. Further down it becomes a bit sourer, but still very interesting.

Bouteille: Golden to deep golden, almost clear, visible carbonation, big - almost creamy - white head; mildly sourish nose of lemons, malt and traces of horseblanket; moderate sourish-bitter flavour, medium bodied; lingering dryish sour and also bitter finish. Good and easy-drinking Gueuze...

tak porownawczo - dwie butelki, Girardin White i Black Label.

W ustach tez kolosalna roznica. Primo: bialy jest slodkawo-kwaskowaty. Czarny jest wytrawno kwasny. Secundo: w czarnym jest bez porownania wiecej tanin. Az do dretwienia ust. Czegos a la kiszonka tez w czarnym mozna sie doszukac ;) oraz winnych klimatow. jedna ceche maja wspolna: w ustach pasuja do aromatow swoich.

Wiec liczbowo to bedzie:

White Label: 3.6

Black Label: 4.0

Pours fairly clear deep gold with big stable offwhite head. Aroma of wild strawberry, citrus, zest, spice, lactic bacteria tang and brett funk. Tastes dry but not overly acidic. High carbonation, very dry but not brut. Lovely!

Intense orange colour, almost perfectly transarent. Small white head recedes quite quickly but still leaves a bit of lacing. Aroma shows soft fruity sourness (green apple, lime) and a bit of earthy funkiness. As the smell suggested, sourness is very much in check for the style and nicely balanced by a sweet wheat malts foundation. Fruity tartness (again green apple, lime) is more evident than lactic sourness (slight earthy funk). Light bodied with medium to high carbonation, pleasantly spritzy and dry enough in the finish. Refreshing enough. Overall this is an easy and enjoyable but not very complex gueuze.

0.375 bottle.
A clear, amber color and a small, white head. Aroma of fruits, fermentation, it is both fruity sweet and yeast-like sour. Taste is obviously sour, fruity, surprisingly malty, has some flavored water, and wet cloth. A medium body, a slick texture, and a lively carbonation. Finish is medium long and also sour - quite decent. Overall the beer is well-made, it is pleasant to drink and is agreeably balanced in its sourness despite the style.

Bottle @home.

A good gueuze, but seems too taim where there could of been a full taste. Sour with funk smell finish is only slightly bitter, doesn’t last too long though.
