Keg @ Mikkeller Bar Viktoriagade? (maybe Mikkeller & Friends). Light amber with a small head. The nose is peaches, a bit of lemon, wood, soft cheese and yogurt. The nose is ore dried wood, a bit of pinecone, white grape and apples. Hints of citrus on the finish. Moderate unwashed sock funk. Smooth and easy to drink. Very light. Overall, doesn’t have the personality of Black Label, but still quite decent.

750 ml bottle acquired in trade from Boutip. Thanks, Phil! Opened on my "Flood Day". Pours a deeper amber orange hue, good haziness, darker body and some orange amber glow on the edges. Deeper haziness, frothy layer of tannish head atop stays as a nice thicker layer, laces ok. Aromas offer sweet tarts, lemon, citrus, and mellow. Dust and straw, a lively fruity bouquet on this one with some lactic and yogurt feel softening the blow. Medium sourness meets cobwebs, funk, and straw. Funky brett, some barnyard and wet oak. Firm tart sour fruit, melon, and oak. A touch buttery, some vanilla, lively funk and softened sweetness. Good oak, lively fruit. Initial isn’t as intense as the nose, softened with bready, dry grains, and straw. Mellow funk starts to grow, softened lactic acid is yogurty, some mellow tart citrusy lemon, melon. Firmer oak as we catch stride into the middle. Grainy and bready, faint thicker feel. Backend is tart, medium lactic acid. Some melon, citrus, and touches of crab apple. Some funk, dryness, and brett linger on. Oak is firm throughout this one. A bit softened, the nose is much more intense than the lambic itself. A toych of candi sugar sweetness, the intensity and rich sour fruit, vibrancy of Black Label is lost in this filtered version. A touch sticky, firmer oak and yogurt. Funk. Pretty well balanced but obviously lacking that punch. Solid lambic. It lacks complexity and punch which it’s sibling version gets so right. Still, it’s a serviceable beer and pretty enjoyable.

- As my stomache and palate do not always agree with fully sour and dry 3F and Cantillon calibre acidity, I found this filtered oude geu(e)ze surprisingly complex wih just the right amount of grapefruit zest bitterness and layered acidity. Hard to believe the dark and distinct candy sugar notes have been obtained without adding any sugar, as this verges almost on a faro. Great, manageably complex entry-level oude geuze, perfect for me to proselytise in the Teutonic (wild fermentationally speaking) wastelands.

Golden color with white head. Little malt and citrus aroma, also little sour. Light sweet at taste with spicy and citrus flavour, no sour.

Bottle from De Molen shop in Bodegraven. Sweet and sour smell with fruits, berries and funk. Similar taste with some funk and cherries. Very nice, I personally would have preferred a bit more cherries, but still a nice beer.

Blind tasting off 18 current available Gueuzes Appearance: somewhat paler than normal. Nose: sweet, honey, apple. Taste: pilsner-like? somewhat sour aftertaste. Once i knew it was the Girardin, I wondered how they can get from the Girardin Black Label to this?
